Mass Effect 2 DLC to be detailed this week

360 News | BioWare to reveal all soon.
While rumours have persisted over the weekend that premium downloadable content for the upcoming space action title Mass Effect 2 will be released on its launch next week, developer BioWare has quashed the speculation while simultaneously announcing that DLC news for the title will be unveiled later in the week.

According to a tweet posted on the developer's Twitter page last week "BioWare will not be charging extra for any new Mass Effect 2 content on launch day. More DLC details next week." While the company has confirmed that we won't be handing over our hard earned cash for DLC at this time, we're left scratching our heads as to what DLC the company will offer gamers so soon after the title's launch.

Stay tuned to PALGN as BioWare reveals more on Mass Effect 2 later in the week.

that doesnt really rule out release day dlc though. i'm kind of expecting something along the lines of the free codes with new copies of dragon age (plus it's rumoured that the dlc includes a new planet and character, so could be the exact same thing that happened with shale in dragon age).

All new copies of Mass Effect 2 come with a 'Cerberus Network Access Card' which has something to do with DLC.

People figure it's either direct access to 'free' DLC, or access to the DLC network in general. Probably the former, similar to Dragon Age.

In other words DLC will be there at launch and free on the condition you own a new copy of the game. People with used copies likely wont be able to use the access card, and thus would have to pay.

Which is rapidly proving to be EA's favorite new trick for trying to screw the second-hand market. Man, you know, for a while it looked like Activision were going to take the title of most evil gaming company away from them.

I don't like reading about DLC before a game is released. I mean put it on the disc already.

That said, can't wait for ME2.

Any more Mass Effect 2 is good IMO and even sweeter if it's free. As for EA, I think it's a fair enough strategy. They are a business like any other and the purpose of a business is to make money. If you can give something free to those who are willing to pay full price for a new game then kudos to them. Those who choose to go down the used-copy path, tough luck.

All that the pre-release DLC talk does is make me decide to pass on buying new releases at launch and wait for the usually inevitable annual price drop or GOTY release so I get full value for the $$$ they ask for.

DLC to make Tali romancable.
It will outsell the game itself...

It is a extra character like Shale was in Dragon Age. This time we get the grizzled human bounty hunter Zaeed Messani.
