This is in conflict with the game's listing on online retailer Topshop, which shows a 28 June 2010 release. While this confirms the delay, it also appears that this is a filler date for games to be released on the April to June quarter.
Splinter Cell Conviction isn't the only Ubisoft title to suffer from a delay. The upcoming strategy title R.U.S.E. has also been delayed till the 2010-11 fiscal year but no concrete release window has been provided. Furthermore, the shaky development cycle of the promising disaster flick game I Am Alive continued, with the title set to miss the 2010-11 fiscal year completely, meaning we're not going to see it before March 2011 and development has been shifted to Ubisoft Shanghai.
"Despite a number of highly successful titles, such as Assassin's Creed II – which is expected to reach 9 million sell-in units by the end of March 2010 – and Just Dance – our great Wii success during the holiday season – Ubisoft has not met its financial targets," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot to IGN, when quizzed about the delays. Given the unusually packed nature of this usually quiet first quarter of 2010, more delays seem to be inevitable.
