New game by Mistwalker Studios in the works

360 News | First major project since Lost Odyssey.

The recent issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed that Mistwalker studios has been working on a new game for quite sometime and it is due for a 2010 release.

Blue Dragon was a good debut and Lost Odyssey impressed us with it's stellar story telling. So far the company has been busy with small scale projects that have been released on the Nintendo DS and mobile phones. Blue Dragon so far has two sequels, which are both on the Nintendo DS.

This new project could possibly be a new IP or it could be a sequel. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

I remember a microsoft rep said long ago that the Lost Odyssey franchise will continue. They even something about Lost Odyssey becoming their "Final Fantasy".

I have a strong feeling this is Lost Odyssey 2.

Thats what M$ said but Sakaguchi called Blue Dragon his new 'Final Fantasy'.

Personally I would like to see a proper Blue Dragon sequel with new characters and story (like they did with the manga). The DS sequels are terrible.

I really hope it's not a Blue Dragon sequel. A Lost Odyssey sequel could be great if approached properly.

never finished LO1. Got to disc 4. Had enough. Really hated the party breakup into clusters in disc 3. Wandered the wrong place and ended up in the temple of enlightenment and that place is a PITA. Gave up. Game's not bad though. 7/10ish

Never bothered with BD after the negative reviews/comments on it

I loathed Blue Dragon so incredibly much, it made my head spin. A Lost Odyssey 2 would be very welcomed though.

Not sure if I want a LO sequel, the original was great so it worries me. I'll just be glad if we can get a game as good as LO.

Lost Odyssey 2 is my hope. LO was an incredible traditional JRPG. Blue Dragon was good, but not as good as LO.

To me, Lost Odyssey felt more like Final Fantasy than XII and X and also reminded me a lot of FFIX. Not only was the music epic, but the character development, the Dreams, the Immortal's learning skills and equiping, upgrading rings, felt like what a traditional JRPG should be. I'd love to see another one.

LO was more Final Fantasy-ish then FFX, FFX-2 and FFXII were.

What i loved about LO is that it retains what made JRPG's great in the first place; the good old turn based battle system, the epic music, great characters, interesting story line and great humor. Thats something the final fantasy series has lost, IMO.

I have no idea why people rave about Lost Odyssey. The historic story tellings were outstanding, but the overall storyline and turn based combat with what I felt had flawed mechanics left a lot to be desired.
