Banjo and Kazooie challenge the blue hedgehog
360 News | As playable characters in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.

Console-exclusive characters for multi-platform games is not a new concept for the video games industry. When SoulCalibur II was released on the PS2, Xbox and GCN, all three versions were treated to platform-exclusive characters in the form of Heihachi Mishima from Tekken, Spawn from the comic book of the same name, and Link from The Legend of Zelda (we’ll let you work out who goes where). Surprisingly, Sega has accidentally revealed (via TSSZ News) that the Xbox 360 version of their upcoming racer, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, will feature Banjo and Kazooie as playable characters.
The characters were revealed when the company posted box art images on Sega.com, though they’ve since been removed. The box art displayed the usual suspects on the cover – Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr. Eggman and Aiai, among others - but when one clicked on the Xbox 360 version an image of Banjo and Kazooie appeared. The duo appear in their Nuts & Bolts incarnations, and the game’s logo displays the text with Banjo-Kazooie at the bottom.
At the time of writing SEGA has currently made no formal announcement concerning the duo making an appearance, and from what evidence we can gather it seems other platforms will not feature exclusive characters. We have included a small image of the box art below.
