Collectively titled Lineage and running at a total of thirty-eight minutes, the three films are made up of a combination of live acting and computer-generated backgrounds. Like Assassin's Creed 2, Lineage will be set in the cities of Florence and Venice. It looks as if Lineage will be a vehicle to better flesh out the series' new setting and characters rather than dwelling on the modern day component.
Actors featuring in 'Lineage' are also said to have some role in Assassin's Creed 2, lending both voice work and their own digitised faces to the game. Don't be surprised to see the same characters popping up in both game and film.
Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat said, "...With the Assassin’s Creed: Lineage film series, the production value that went into these shorts is exactly the same should we have decided to go with a long feature. And I think that that says it all.”
Be sure to check out YouTube on 27 October for the first instalment of Lineage.
