Fez coming to XBLA next year

360 News | Flipping awesome.
Fans of independent gaming rejoice, as an image posted by Polytron brings word that the Independent Games Festival (IGF) award-winning title Fez will hit Xbox Live Arcade sometime in early 2010.

The clever indie platformer has been in development for the past two years and was the darling of the 2008 IGF awards - coming away with the ‘Excellence in Visual Art’ award, while also being nominated for the ‘Design Innovation’ award. The game utilises a colourful pixel-art visual style, while also making use of perspective shifts and optical illusions as players literally have to flip the scenery in the levels in order for the game's protagonist Gomez to proceed through the game.

No word on a hard release date or price has yet to be announced for Fez, but we can expect more news to filter through in the coming months as 2010 draws closer. You can check out some screens of this quirky title in our media panel below.

I'm not sure that I can adequately express how wonderful this news is with words... so I found this image, which I feel is a decent approximation:

It looks a bit more pixelated than when I saw a vid of the demo last year. Oh well, this game cannot be bad. The concept and ambiance is just too good to let down!
