Battlefield 1943 out next week

360 News | Twitter confirms release dates.
The upcoming downloadable shooter Battlefield 1943, will be released next week for Xbox 360 on the 8th and PS3 the day after on the 9th.

DICE finally confirmed the release dates via the official 1943 Twitter, putting an end to speculations and previous release schedules.

The multiplayer title will include three remade maps from Battlefield 1942 - Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima, and supports up to 24 players. A fourth map will be unlocked for players once a community goal of 43 million kills has been achieved. Coral Sea will be available as soon as XBLA and PSN gamers respectively reach the achievement; an interesting way for DICE to provide additional content.

The price is set at 1200 Microsoft Points, working out to approximately AUD $20 on the PS3.

Are they going to have Aussie servers this time, or will be it Lag City like BF:BC and totally unplayable? Considering this is multiplayer only (?) and no money back guarantee on DLCs, not sure I want to risk it.

No way will I pay for this. The only place a FPS belongs is on a PC... Maybe on a console when they get a keyboard and mouse!

That and 3 maps ain't enough. It's basically a demo.

Awesome. For $15 it is great value, and 4 maps is enough, especially for the price. Now to decide what console to get it on.

Cool, downloading now on 360, gonna give it a whirl, if it's decent enough I might get the proper version on PC later on.

It may not be as easy to control, but it doesn't mean it still isn't fun. Some of the most fun I've had with FPS' have been on consoles, no matter how uncomfortable it was to control compared to the mouse. Goldeneye multiplayer, Halo 1 multiplayer - I couldn't imagine playing them on a PC, it just wouldn't be the same.

Yeah, I feel the same. Porbably because splitscreen never has lag. Most of the most promising of online experiences have been bought down by that plague we call lag. *coughsmashbrotherscough*

LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

EA is so awesome trust them to make a game that lags so much you can barely play the thing icon_evil.gif

At first I was pretty angry (read, very) whilst trying to play and put up with the lag.

DICE are doing the same thing as they did with BF Heroes, removing the server browser in favour of matchmaking only, and only having US and European servers.

After a while though I got used to it, and I've now got only 3 achievements left to get, the capture 25 flags, play 30 games, and play 100 games. Though I don't see myself doing all that tonight.

I wonder how it is so small though. Does anyone know what the trial version includes? Might download it sometime to give it a go.

Good News, the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now some people can't join unless someone leaves. But don't worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.
Edit: Had a few good games with NO lag, got 15 kills twice then like 22 and 600 points but now its gone **** again, hopefully they get it sorted soon cause its a great game when it works.

The trial limits you to 1/2 an hour of gameplay. After that, you'll need to buy it to keep playing.

I tried playing last night, but the lag made it unplayable for me. Might wait a week or so and try again once the initial hype has died down a little and see if that makes a difference.

I'll buy this soon but I'm so sick of lag, that any multiplayer games I instantly mistrust
