Serious Sam HD for XBLA

360 News | Seriously.
Croteam will be bringing its over-the-top first-person shooter, Serious Sam, to the Xbox Live Arcade in the not-to-distant future.

According to Eurogamer, Serious Sam HD will 're-imagine' the first game in the series, adding in online co-operative modes for up to four people and shiny new HD graphics. Combine that with the sheer number of enemies that the series is known for, and things might get a tiny bit hectic. There will be twelve Eygptian-themed levels to blast through.

The game first appeared on the PC in 2001, and quickly gained a cult following. Serious Sam II followed in 2005 on the PC and Xbox, with Serious Sam III and Serious Sam Forever in development as we speak.

Serious Sam HD is scheduled for a release towards the end of Q3 this year. It will come at a cost of 1200 MS points.

Oh my god. This is awesome! I had one on xbox that included two or three games and it was so much mindless fun, I will definitely get this. That reminds me, I should get number 2 on the xbox...

Damnit, in the year that I didn't have a 360 they still haven't made Serious Sam 2 backwards compatible icon_sad.gif.

EDIT: Pictures! Looks like the enemy models and lighting have had the biggest improvements. But I haven't played it for years so I dunno. Actually, it seems everything looks quite a bit better.

I'm confused, was Serious Sam ever not HD, Pretty sure I've been running it in 1600x1200 for the past 6 years or however long it's been out.

Probably referring to the Xbox version that was released.

Man can't wait. Co-op on the harder difficulties was just insane in the best ways.

On further inspection from seeing the original compared to this upcoming release, this is a very very nice visual upgrade.

Yeah, I loved this game co-op would set up a lan with my mate and we'd play it for hours on end, usually completing the entire game in one sitting.

This still comes out at some of the smaller LANs i play at. Great fun and a good time killer while people are getting games installed.

I never played this but have heard great things about it so I'm stoked to get a chance to play it.

This is one of the single best announcements for XBLA ever - no doubts about it. Seriously fun game, one of the best co-op experiences you can have IMO. Four player local + online + enhanced graphics = WINNAH!

Ah. ****, I cannot wait to get some of that action going.
