Le Mans circuit to appear in Forza 3

360 News | Test your driving skills with the French.
Late last week, Microsoft announced that Turn 10's upcoming racing sim, Forza Motorsport 3, will feature both the Le Sarthe and Bugatti variants of the Le Mans circuit in Sarthe, France.

The Le Mans circuit originally opened in 1923 and utilises many local roads that are open to the public in the off-season. Forza 3 will reflect this by showcasing the age of the roads and simulating how bumpy they can be for drivers. The circuit is perhaps most famous for the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans event, which sees drivers burn rubber on the track for 24 straight hours. Coincidentally, last weekend marked the 77th anniversary of the event.

In addition to the track reveal, Microsoft announced a partial list of cars that will be appearing in the final buil, including:
  • #2 Audi Sport North America R10 TDI
  • #2 FSI Champion Racing R8
  • #7 Team Bentley Speed 8
  • #15 BMW Motorsport V12 LMR
  • #6 Team Cadillac Northstar LMP-02
  • #30 MOMO Doran Racing F333 SP
  • #8 Peugeot Sport 908
  • #3 Peugeot Talbot Sport 905 EVO 1C
  • #17 Racing Porsche AG 962c
  • #3 Toyota Motorsports GT-ONE TS020
  • #8 Audi Sport Team Joest Audi R10 TDI
  • #12 Risi Competizione F333 SP

Forza Motorsport 3 is scheduled to be released in October 2009. You can check out some new screenshots in the media panel below.

This game looks so sweet.
So many hours are going to be taken up playing this, I can't wait.

YES! Hell freaking yes. Awesome. Enjoy NASCAR GT5 icon_razz.gif

All they need is to get the Peugeot 908 in its current racing livery, the Audi R15, and the Lola Aston Martin LMP1 and I'll be in Le Mans recreation heaven.

Anticipation for this game just went up a notch.

Best version so far of the Le Mans tracks was on Dreamcast, hopefully Forza can do them justice.

Will we see Bathurst or it's variation from Forza 1 again?

Death to Forza's stupid test tracks.

Err...GT4 had the Le Mans circuit in various forms and the latest trailer for GT5 that shows NASCAR also shows the Le Mans circuit with lights on the track...

But you can't properly recreate an endurance race without damage icon_razz.gif icon_wink.gif

The GT5 video at this E3 showed a brief glimpse of vehicle damage. I remain skeptical about its implementation though.

Great news, my mate will be happy he loves Le Mans. Hopefully Gran Turismo 5 is still maintaining this circuit, good times back in Gran Turismo 4 staying up all night to finish it.

Yeah, GT have had Circuit de la Sarthe since GT4. Forza 3 looks great, get on it if you chose 360 this gen, but it's laughable to suggest it'll be greater than GT5. Polyphony have a lot to prove with entry, they won't disappoint.
