Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing announced

360 News | Because Sonic clearly needs a car to get around.

Sega has announced that Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is being developed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS.

With a focus on party racing gameplay like Nintendo’s popular Mario Kart series, players will race for first position, collecting power-ups and weapons along the way. Popular Sonic and Sega characters such as such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, and Amigo will join the racing roster, taking on various tracks based around the Sega universe.

Like all good party racers, up to four player split-screen action will be included, as well as eight player online multiplayer.

“Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is no ordinary racing game,” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director of Sega Europe. “Its huge variety of characters and vehicles, plus the ability to play both online and off set it apart from other games of this type.”

It's this sort of genius creativity that has SEGA at the forefront of video game development, and not a sad, past-its-prime company desperately trying to cling on, but will soon enough inevitably succumb to its horribleness when fans cotton on that Sonic and his cohorts are merely running off nostalgic memories & that everything new to the Sonic universe is a completely and utter pile of **** not worth nothing.

Having said that, I might pick it up.

This could be pretty cool. If it plays like Mario Kart, then I'd be very happy. As I love the Sega Characters. The screens look nice and the track with the big loop look awesome. I love the Tails vehicle.

It also depends if they put decent power ups in it, like the Sonic boots for ultra speed, Rings to throw at other carts etc.

Definately keen for this.

We do need a decent Kart game on the HD consoles. I just really doubt Sega will deliver it.

How has this topic got 12 responses without turning into the discussion which all -kart based games should go; Super Mario Kart vs Mario Kart 64. I guess there's no point though seeings how Super Mario Kart is so much better in every way.
