New DLC hitting Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360

360 News | Episode two: The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Rockstar Games has announced that the second episode of downloadable content is on its way for Grand Theft Auto IV later this year, still exclusive to the Xbox 360.

The new episode follows this year’s earlier instalment, The Lost and Damned, also released exclusively for the 360. The Ballad of Gay Tony introduces street hoodlum Luis Lopez, as he works under legendary entertainment entrepreneur Tony Prince.

"Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we've created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode's focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities."'

The previous chapter The Lost and Damned and the upcoming Ballad of Gay Tony will also be featured on a disc under the name of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. Priced at US $39.99, this stand alone pack will not require the original GTA IV to play.

The Ballad of Gay Tony will be released on Xbox Live later this year for 1600 Microsoft Points and the downloadable version requires players to have GTA 4.

The title is something I would have expected to see online April 1st.

Yup. The mission called "Museum Piece" in GTA IV involves Niko, Johnny and Luis Lopez. You also unlock the achievement "Impossible Trinity" after completion of the mission. Rockstar have had this planned out all along.

good thing I didnt dish out on the lost and damned DLC -

I would rather buy the disc at retail (hopefully at a discount or a trade in)

Is PS3 getting the disc version of any of this downloadable content? Lost of the Damned?

No PS3 dlc has been announced yet, though there are rumours.

If the disc version gets released in Aus ill just wait and get that. Especially since you don't need a copy of GTA4 to play it.

Doubt it, it's been a microsoft exclusive since the begining.

Like Fallout 3 DLC?

Nothing is "exclusive" anymore. Money talks, just refer to Bioshock. Better late than never if you ask me.

If this doesn't come to PS3, I might pick up the disc based version. Is there no slow down on the 360 version? I heard the PS3 has slowdown but the 360 version doesn't. I had like 10 cops chasing me, I got stuck so they were all around me and the FPS was ridiculously low, happens when a lot of cops are on screen.

Considering microsoft paid US$50 million for the rights to the 2 DLCs for GTAIV, I can't see L&D or this being released on the PS3.

Meh, colour me not excited. I was completely exhausted with GTA4 by the end of the original story and have no reason to purchase DLC. Anyone else think the game was a bit over rated (I still enjoyed it though)?

so should be ok to have the gamer tag gay mcgaylord now then?

I thought, still think, it was hugely overrated, it was a shell of a game compared to the other gta's

I absolutely adored the Lost and Damned so I can't wait for this. I might just buy the retail disc instead of downloading so at least I have a physical copy I can keep.

I can understand people being bored by GTA IV, but for me its one of the finest gaming experiences I've had. No other digital world has sucked me in so completely and for so long. I loved the entire experience sans lack of checkpoints. Which was part of the way fixed in the DLC anyway.

As an aside, when can we realistically expect GTA V? Or at least a new stand alone game like Vice City and San Andreas were. Will we get another this generation? I know it won't be nearly as fast as GTA III to Vice City but would 3 years be too soon?

Not likely. Sony have announced a deal with Rockstar North (developers of GTA) that by letting GTA go multi-platform, Rockstar North will develop a new franchise exclusively for the PlayStation platform. That was announced at E3 2007, so hopefully we see the results of that deal next week at Sony's E3 conference. There is no way that Grand Theft Auto will go exclusive to either platform now.

There are quite a few people (me being one) that were largely disappointed in GTAIV.Maybe not on here but on the GTA forum on neo there are quite a lot of people that were disappointed and have traded the game in.

And I didn't like previous GTA's but love GTA 4. I just love euphoria and how the cars handle. It makes me compare every other sandbox game to it and they all pale in comparison. Even Saints Row 2 made me want to play GTA 4.

I've come to the conclusion I really don't like the vehicle handling in GTAIV (and some of the previous entries), everything feels like a brick on wheels. Every time I go back and play it now I wish it controlled more like Burnout Paradise =\

Every GTA-ish sandbox game out there makes me realise how awesome Mafia was, that was the pinnacle of the genre. GTA4 was good, but I'm hanging out for Mafia 2.
