Magnacarta 2 coming to Australia

360 News | More RPG love for the Xbox 360.
Namco-Bandai has announced that upcoming RPG Maganacarta 2 will be getting an Australian release, exclusively on the Xbox 360.

Developed by Softmax, Magnacarta 2 is a follow up to the PS2 RPG Magnacarta: Tears of Blood and will take place in the Lanzheim Continent, with war and conflict being the main theme. The game will be powered by the Unreal 3 engine and feature artwork by Korean artist Hyung-Tae Kim.

The game will feature a battle system which combines strategic turn-based battles and real-time action gameplay and will allow a seamless transition between exploration and battle modes, as well as a full 3D camera and will allow gamers to pre-assign attributes for each AI character and easily switch control between all the characters at any time. Characters within the game will be able to use a variety of different weapons and fighting styles, as well as a number of different skills and special moves.

The game is set for release in the third quarter of 2009.

Why is PS3 missing out so many RPG's, esp sequels to games that where on PS2.......sigh

I really don't know why you sold your 360, I know I couldn't live without having all 3 consoles. Why restrict yourself?

My god......How many times do you guys have to be told. I traded it,
cause overall I didn't like the console and prefer the PS3. I don't see the point in owning 2 similar consoles, that play the same games, bar a few
exclusives, esp when I use the PS3 mostly. So can you guys stop bringing up this 360 business time and time again, its getting very annoying.

@LeonJ, because of my limited resources trying to satisfy my unlimited wants and needs is why. consoles are expensive.

OK you want to play RPGs but then *sigh* as you claim the PS3 is missing out. It's a odd thing to say considering you sold your console which has a massive chunk of exclusive next gen RPGs right now. OK, maybe you can't afford to own 2 consoles, that's fine. I understand.

If you can, I really don't understand you at all and don't consider you a gamer.

well the first 1 really wasn't that fantastic, after about 20hrs I had to force myself to keep playing in order to finish it, and for what

a predictable story, with one thing I didn't guess which wasn't that important. A broken system for exploring where u either get ambushed every few seconds or you walk as slow as a turtle. Not to mention the area for walking was tiny, you could barely dodge enemies.

The battle system was okish apart from the element(magic) system and right near the end of the game, the main character learns a skill that breaks the game as you can beat everyone bar the final boss easily with it

but the game did have some good things about it, the music wasn't bad, the locations even were nice and had a bit of variety (even if they were stereotype) and the relationship system was a nice touch so I'm not a complete hater of the 1st game

so unless they do a massive improvement to the game, I don't think you'll need to worry after all Andy and besides I rather play the next entry for atelier iris (even if AI3 wasn't as good as the first 2) which is coming to PS3

I can tell you in 4 points.

1- The Xbox360 has sold more consoles than the PS3.
2- The Xbox360 is still selling more console than the PS3 in most western regions.
3- The Xbox360 has a higher attach rate than the PS3.
4- Japanese companies have already stated that they can no longer survive on the Japanese market alone and that they must target the western market. What signifies the ultimate western market in Japan? The Xbox360.

The fact is that it was spelt out a while ago that most RPG's would be either going exclusive on Xbox360, be timed exclusive on Xbox360, or would be going multiplatform when they were previously Exclusive. At the moment there are seemingly only 2 companies that produce RPG'S who seem to be sticking with Sony and those are NIS and Atlus and even then both of then Atlus is just releasing it's first next gen game (I think) in Demon Souls and NIS are only up to their second or third.

There are obviously always going to be some exclusive RPG's on Sony consoles but the fact is that seemingly at the moment Microsoft is trying harder to sway developers over to their console and it's working. The majority of RPG's are becoming Xbox360 exclusive and if you consider yourself a true RPG fan then you would have both an Xbox360 and PS3 for the next gen RPG's, as long as you could afford one that is and considering the amount you spend on games week in and week out you could afford one.

Well put Vervulus, the economic arguement puts everything in perspectve.

Crap, I haven't even heard of Magnacarta O.O *feels left out*. More jrpg for the 360. If only 360 is portable at the rate its going, and I can't stay home all day to play!!! (because like, there is this rule that is made for me as a joint effort from mum and my bf, which is to get me out of the house during the day time, gaaaaah!!!, but they don't know I play my ds on the train to uni *wink*)

Valid points, but there is such a thing as Multi Platform games. Which is what developers should be focusing on, esp for alot of these RPG's.

also at LeonJ.....Not everyone can afford all current gen consoles. I for one can't afford to own them all, hence why I traded them in when I wanted others more. So that's why I won't buy a 360, oh and the fact (and I've mentioned this many times) that I DON'T OVERLY LIKE THE CONSOLE for various reasons also has alot to do with it too.

You agreed with him, yet negged him. I find that OVERLY annoying for various reasons.

And I find it OVERLY annoying that no matter how many times I mention I don't like the 360, you guys always bring it up...saying that you can't understand why I sold it and if I can afford all the games I buy then I could afford to own a 360.

I negged Vervulus, because of his comment in the his last paragraph, about being able to afford a 360.

I DO NOT LIKE THE CONSOLE.....Do you understand????. So why would I re buy it. It would be a waste.

The amount of posts I see of Vervulus stating that there are certain things he finds annoying about the PS3, hence why he doesn't have one. And do I comment about it, saying oh you still should one etc.

No I don't, its his opinion and his choice, just as its my choice not to buy a 360.

No but in the past you have said that maybe LeonJ should just sell his console.

All I was saying was that the truly hardcore RPG fans will be getting both consoles so that they can get all of the best RPG's and that if you considered yourself in the same vein you would as well. You've suddenly started going on about how much you like RPG's and I simply stated that if you are a true fan then you would get both consoles. I never said you had to, nor did I say there was anything wrong with not getting one. I simply stated my own opinion which, according to what you just said, is fine.

Also ANDY you're complaining about us mentioning the 360 all the time. You are in a thread about an Xbox 360 exclusive game, of course we're going to mention it in here! What in the hell did you expect man?

Why would you even get all RPG's anyway. I am a fan of music games, I'm only ever going to get the latest RB. I like shooters, I'm not going to buy every one there is, only a few. IMO you only need a few of each kind of game, and the PS3 has a few RPG's.

As I said only if you're a hardcore RPG fan, and then I said only the good ones at that. Personally I'm a huge fan of RPG's but I'll never buy all of them as I only want the good ones and not the average ones.

I guess it's like a fan of FPS's wanting to have all the better FPS games. If you're a fan of the genre than you usually want all of the better games in that genre.

Sorry Andy, but if you didn't want people bringing up the 360, then you shouldn't have mentioned the PS3 in an Xbox 360 exclusive thread. What did you think was going to happen?

I've never been a portable fan, but damn, the DS has HEAPS of RPGs! Maybe I should pick one up.

Yeah, you're right. Sorry guys. Just abit dissapointed that PS3 is losing
most RPG's. However I'm very happy with the few that the PS3 has, so will leave it at that.
