Bizarre Creations shows off Blur

360 News | Blink and you'll miss it.
Last month, the developer behind the highly popular Project Gotham series of racing titles, Bizarre Creations, revealed that it was working on a brand new racing series, titled Blur. A month later, the first real details and screenshots have emerged.

Bizarre hopes that Blur will set itself apart from other driving titles by "making racing 'fun' again." According to Bizarre, Blur will support a single player campaign as well as: 20-player online races (both competative and team-based), 4-player split-screen racing and a social 'Custom Groups' feature, which will allow gamers to create their own multiplayer modes based on the way that they like to play the game. Oh, and did we mention weapons?

Blur is set for release later this year on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You can take a gander at the title's first official screenshots in our media panel.

Nope it's not deja vu. There was an article about Blur being announced 4 weeks ago just over here.

Huh, what?

Seriously I don't understand what you're talking about.

It's a racing game by the same people that did Project Gotham Racing, and none of them have scored below 80 on Metacritic? Why would it score 1 out of 10?

This looks and sounds like a huge flop in the making.

When they talk about Mario Kart style then try to mix that with realistic-ish graphics, it just doesn't work.

I wonder what the hell they were thinking because their previous games were real good.

I don't know about everyone else, but I like the sound of 4-player splitscreen.

guessing theyre going for a mix of pgr and geometry wars style trippiness for the art style.

I like the sound of an arcadey racer in the vein of Sanfransico Rush, man those games were the ****.

Yeah, I think they'll really have to work hard to sell me on this one...

So many cynics, I'm glad as a PS3 owner to be able to get my hands on a racing game by these guys and all power to em for trying something different with the visuals. Far to early for anyone to be bagging out this one!!!

whats with all the hate?

havent you guys ever played that oldschool game rollcage?? it was ultra unrealistic but still one of my favourite racing games. anything to break nfs's clutch on current racing games is a good thing really.

I'm with notsofat, the old arcadey racers are some of my faviourte racing games, Carmgeddon 2 and Rush 2049 are the bomb.

And yet if this had been marketed as 'Burnout, but with powerups' people would probably be showering it with love...

They have a solid pedigree, I reckon this is one to keep an eye on. Modern racers need more fun and less 'gritty realism' IMO.

Well i had no problem with the power ups in midnight club LA, made multiplayer hilarious

I've got nothing against power ups and the like, I just really hate the art direction they've gone for, it's like a major cop out to have everything look like regular old cars and then just chuck some bad lighting effects over the top to mask the "realism".

Those other games mentioned had their own unique styles to the visuals, this looks like PGR with a can of paint spilt on it, which looks bad, game will probably be good (I love PGR) but it doesn't change the fact the visuals scream "half-arsed".
