Sega Vintage Collection coming to XBLA

360 News | Gunstar Heroes to PSN.
Sega is planning to release yet another Mega Drive compilation, dubbed Sega Vintage Collection 2, on the Xbox Live Arcade in the third quarter of 2009.

Included in the pack is sidescrolling beat 'em up Altered Beast, along with the ninja action of Shinobi. RPG fans are catered for with Phantasy Star II, while the little-known Comix Zone will also make an appearance.

Best of all, Sonic 3 will be included, with Sega promising that Sonic & Knuckles will be released later in the year. Of course, they will able to be combined to make a super-game of sorts, just like the Mega Drive originals.

Gunstar Heroes will be rounding out the pack. Oddly, it is the only game in the pack that will be seeing a release on the PlayStation Network. Strange that.

Of course, the visuals will be jazzed up to suit HD televisions, and apparently there will even be some online leaderboards. As of yet, no price has been mentioned.

I was reading about this before and thought 'Awesome, I'll pick this up'. But then again, I already own this, and many other of the titles. So it question I beg to ask is whether it's worth downloading a game I already own and played to death many years ago (and again on emulators)? It depends if they do anything new with it, i.e. updated graphics/resolution etc. Mind you, I did purchase Castlevania SotN on Live.

Wait wait wait. They're releasing games over XBLA that are already on Sega Genesis Collection released 2 months ago? Good news about Gunstar Heroes though. You know what needs to come to XBLA and PSN? Master System games and a ton of them

Sonic & Knuckles with the Lock-On functionality for the win. It was a real shame they didn't put it in the Mega Drive Collection =/

I wonder if online co-op is hoping for too much with Sonic3...

Hrmm, no crappy 50 Hz dodgy megadrive ports like the Wii.

Some nice games on the way there.

**** yeah, Shinobi. Judging by the other comments, lucky I haven't bothered buying any Sega Genesis collections this generation.
