Dead Space shifts 1.4 million units

360 News | That's a lot of stained undies.
Speaking to Gamespot, Visceral Games’ (formally EA Redwood Shores) Glen Schofield revealed that EA Games’ original IP Dead Space has sold more than 1.4 million units worldwide.

Dead Space follows the story of Isaac Clarke, an engineer who is the sole survivor on the mining ship Ishimura. The ship has been overrun by aggressive alien lifeforms known as the necromorphs, and so Isaac must use his mechanical know-how to stay alive and get off the ship.

Dead Space was released in October 2008 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with a Wii incarnation called Dead Space Extraction scheduled to be released later this year.

First!
Man, I loved this game. Deserves all the acclaim it received.
I actually just went back and finished my second playthough and started my third on Impossible.
It was quite interesting after playing heaps of RE5 to go back to this.
While I really liked RE5, IMO Dead Space is definitely the superior experience.

Dead Space deserves it's success. Great game and really scary. Can't wait for the next one. Well done EA!

Neither of the games dead space and re5 were scary because they are more focused on being action games. Doesn't mean their not fun.

I personally liked re5 the best but dead space was a great experience as well.

Good to see it's sold well. I know they were always planning on expanding this one as a franchise, and these sales numbers should push them in that direction.

Dead Space is the biggest sleeper hit this gen. When i say that i mean i entered it not expecting a great deal and what i got was the most atmospheric tension in a video games since RE1. Now that is saying something. This game was just so polished, oh, and the end boss fight, that cinematic before engaging into battle is the best i have ever witnessed. Amazing.

I didn't say not being scary meant it wasn't fun.But the game pissed me off to no end and that's why I got rid of it.

RE4 wasn't scary either but I think it was the greatest game on PS2 along with FFX.

Excellent game. The "direction finding" system was top notch. Lot to like about Dead Space including the great audio.

I never got the game, but the video comics they released beforehand were pretty cool and actually gives me the feeling this IP has some actual depth.

New IPs doing well is rarely a bad thing - and given that reviews have claimed this was a highly-polished and fun experience, it's good to see it all paid off.

Lord Haart, you NEED to get this game!
You might pick it up for around $40 these days.

I still haven't managed to beat the Impossible mode =(

Still trying to resist buying the 'Tank' DLC to make it easier.

I remember when I downloaded the Biohazard 5 demo, all I could think was "why can't it control like Dead Space?"... definitely on my favourite games last year, I'm glad it has done well. The fact that EA basically threw it (and Mirrors Edge) into the bargain bin around Christmas time made it even better.

I have this game, and never played it. (It's still in it's plastic)
