Microsoft refunds gamers for overcharging on Braid

360 News | Refunds coming to your accounts in the coming weeks.
For those of you that bought Braid back when it was the Xbox Live Marketplace's first Deal of the Week back in February, keep an eye on your Microsoft Points balance as Microsoft will be refunding you 400 points for overcharging you, as well as a 100 point bonus to thank you for your continued patronage of the service.

Many gamers have been opening their emails to find a letter from Microsoft over the last few days, apologising for the "technical glitch" which led to gamers paying more than they should have on the indie darling Braid. Microsoft has stated that the points will be credited back to accounts of affected gamers during "the coming weeks".

Here's the full email that is doing the rounds to those gamers who were overcharged:

"Dear Xbox LIVE Gold Member:

We launched Deal of the Week program on Feb 23rd, 2009 as an added benefit to your Gold membership and we are very excited to see the overwhelming response we have received from our loyal users such as you.

As a result of the increased transactions we know that you experienced an intermittent Xbox LIVE issue, which resulted in you being charged full price of 1200 points for the Braid deal instead of the discounted price of 800 points. We sincerely wish to apologise for the technical glitch and would like to take this moment to thank you for your patience and understanding as our team worked around the clock to fix this problem.

We will not only be crediting back the 400 points that were overcharged, but also be crediting an extra 100 points as a token of our appreciation and as a thank you for your loyalty during this period. You will see a credit of 500 points in your account in the coming weeks."

I got that email, I'm pretty sure they didn't charged me 1200 points though. I guess I'll just wait and see.

it still took them 2 months+ to address the issue? Poor form... Since its taken so long to resolve, I say 100 bonus points just aint enough!

$1.65 for people maybe. To them, its $1.65 times the amount of people affected add $6.60 times the amount of people (to something they don't have to give back to customers). I would be happy if I were to even get 400 points refunded and to get 100 bonus? How many companies willing to refund some of the amount for poor services?

All they really had to do was refund the overcharged money. Thats it. They whent the extra mile and gave extra points as an appology. Thats more then they needed to do and it's pretty **** arrogant to be complaining that what is basicly a gift isn't big enough.
