Players will be able to duke it out in five different levels of tournament - each one presumably having its own difficulty level - with the winners receiving a certain number of Grade Points, depending on the difficulty. Apparently, GP will unlock tougher, exclusive tournaments further down the line. Win these tournaments and you will receive Championship Points, which are apparently like some sort of 'prize money'. Just how exactly these will work remains to be seen. Capcom's blog has an in-depth description of the system, if you're interested.
Also coming as part of the new mode is a replay feature, which automatically uploads videos of Championship mode battles for all around the world to see. Rather oddly, the PS3 and Xbox 360 both have unique replay mode options. PS3 players can vote on parts of a battle, be they 'funny', 'beautiful' or whatever, with replays ranked by vote totals. While you can't do this on the 360 version, you can save your own favourite replays, as well as turn on an 'input' option, which shows you what commands the players on screen are inputting. Seems odd that both versions don't have the same features, but anyway.
Best of all though, it will be free. If you've yet to give Street Fighter IV a go yet, perhaps our review will change your mind.
