Eidos Interactive says new Batman is "close to perfect"

360 News | That's confidence.
Following Activision's prediction at the start of the week that Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest selling game of all time, it seems that Eidos Interactive has also decided to hop on the self-promotion bandwagon.

In an interview with UK website MCV, Jon Brooke, the head of Eidos Interactive's UK marketing was keen to pump up the new Batman game.

“We expect Batman Arkham Asylum to not only be the biggest game of the summer but one of the stand-out games of the year,” said Brooke. “It’s as close to perfect as we’ve ever come, it looks amazing, plays beautifully and has a rich twisting storyline with enormous replayability. I’m confident enough to say that it will set a new benchmark for licensed games and it’s going to establish itself as one of our best games ever.”

Now that's bold. With a provisional release for the middle of this year however, it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to find out for ourselves.

I want this game to be awesome too, but considering it's an Eidos game I will still be sceptical no matter how good it looks.

Kane and Lynch looked awesome judging by it's preview videos but look how that turned out.

Hitman games have not really been great ever since Silent Assassin.

But hopefully Eidos can pull off this one and finally we can have a good Batman game.

I'm not after near perfect. "Quite good" would be enough for me. All I want in my gaming experience is a decent Batman, Terminator and Aliens game.

Sometimes its better to not over hype things. If you do that, people start expecting too much and if it doesn't deliver, those statements come back to bite you on the ass... hard.

Lets just let the game do the talking.

First of all all of those games you mentioned, other than Bionic Commando, were all released last year. So they're kind of ineligible to be this years best game.

Second of all this game isn't a movie game. Yes it's based off the Batman character but it is not a movie tie in.

Thirdly he said it would be the best game of the summer, NOTHERN HEMISPHERE Summer, like our winter, and that it would one of the stand out titles of the year. He never said it would be the best game of the year, but he does think it will be up there.

The game really does look beautiful and looks like it could really work. Who's to say it won't be one of the best games this year? For all you know it may really be just that.

"Jon Brooke, the head of Eidos Interactive's UK marketing was keen to pump up the new Batman game."

Is this even news? "Marketing man gets paid by company to hype game" would be a more fitting headline.

The game is now the highest rated game in a fair few months (Averaging 92.28% for the 360 version and 91..6% for the PS3 version), is the 13th best 360 game based on review score and the 8th best PS3 game.

So uh what was that about that guy being off his nuts?
