Puzzle Quest: Galactrix coming to the XBLA next Wednesday

D3Publisher has sent word that Puzzle Quest: Galactrix will finally be released on XBLA on April 8th (next Wednesday).

For those that never played Challenge of the Warlords, Puzzle Quest is a hybrid puzzle RPG game. At first glance it looks like a Bejewelled clone, but all those fancy gems you collect are actually used to attack opponents and alter the game board. Players can also level up their character and gain attributes by having NPCs join their party. Galactrix takes the Puzzle Quest franchise from a medieval-fantasy theme into a futuristic Sci-Fi setting, with a notable feature being the new hexagonal-shaped boards. Other features in the XBLA version include online multiplayer, matchmaking, leaderboards and voice chat.

Unfortunately, D3Publisher didn’t mention how many Microsoft points the game will cost.

This game is crap. Not half as good as the original Puzzle Quest.

The story is junk, the world map is boring and worst of all the randomness and AI is annoying.

Makes you wonder if they fluked the first...

Finally!

While not really as good as the original Puzzle Quest, after playing the DS version, it's still a decent take on the series. My anticipation has kind of died down for it but am still keen to play it on the big screen.

Yep agreed its not as good as the original but I'll still get it, I wouldnt say its crap. I still havent finished the first one though.

Only crap thing is no doubt it will be 1200msp

yeah i agree i played the demo and it just seemed so boring, and ugly.

I've played the online PC demo, if that's the only you're talking about. It's difficult to judge the game based just on that, but as a puzzle fan, I like the slightly different tactics on show here compared to the original. Kudos to the design team for going for originality instead of straight up sequel ... although, I'm sure a true Challenge of the Warlords sequel will eventually make an appearance in the future.
