Gears 2 map pack and patch coming soon

360 News | Four new maps and a re-jiggled experiences system.
Epic has revealed plans for a new patch for last year's blockbuster shooter, Gears of War 2, later this month. In addition, the company is also going to be pushing a brand new map pack for the game out the door shortly later.

Scheduled for a release on the 24th of March, the new patch mainly deals with the multiplayer element of the game, adding a modified ranking system based on experience points with the aim being to make leveling up more transparent to the player. The TrueSkill system will still remain though, if only behind the scenes. The patch will also address some balancing issues, such as adding bots to an online match when a player drops out, and making sure all multiplayer modes offer the same amount of experience points to the player.

One week later, on March the 31st, the new Snowblind map pack will be released. The four maps included in the map include Grindyard (the successor to the first game's Gridlock), Under Hill, Courtyard, and a remake of Fuel Depot. No price has been revealed as of yet.

Here's hoping that this drastically improves Gears' online experience. Don't really care much for the new maps though....

You missed probably the most important part of the patch for Australian based gamers.. they're adding a country filter for public games.

If that is the truth, then "yay." I might actually start playing Gears2 multiplayer again.

Are they DEFINATELY adding the country filter?

I damn hope so.

A country filtering option will be in TU3. It doesn't restrict you to your country because otherwise certain areas of the world would be unlikely to play a match. It will always prefer your country when there is a match/party available.

We aren't putting a filter in. We have a country preference, not filter
First time I read that thread only that first quote was in it. So, now it seems its a preference, not a filter.

Isn't that the same thing? Select Australia and it will filter the results to show aussie connections.
