Resident Evil 5 DLC on the way

360 News | Well, that was quick then.
Less than 24 hours after Resident Evil 5 was released in Australia, Capcom have already announced that DLC is on the way for the game.

The DLC comes in the form of a Versus mode. Rather than working co-operatively like they do in the main story, the mode pits players against each other in a contest of survival. It will support up to four players online and challenges them in two distinctive ‘gameplay styles’, dubbed Slayer’s Rule and Survivor’s Rule. Slayer’s Rule is a point-based game that has players killing Majinis, while Survivor’s Rule has players hunting each other. You’ll have the option to fight each other in one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches.

Apparently the DLC will be released on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN in the next few weeks, at a cost of 400 MS points or USD $3.99 (approx AUD $6.19 / GBP £2.99). You can check out some screenshots in the media panel below.

Outrageous.
Not that interested in a mode like this anyway.

That's pretty bad we have to buy it, what ever happen to free upgrades icon_sad.gif. But I love the mercenaries mode so I'll probably dish out money for this.

Considering I'm trading in 2 games and not actually paying any money for this game I wouldn't mind putting down 400 points.

I don't seeing res 5 being a good multiplayer game. I don't think I'll get this. The game is alot of fun and is good for co-op but I don't see this dragging me away from cod4 or killzone 2, so no thanks.

They should have put it in the game.

I just wish game devs didn't assume that just because folks own PS3s and 360s so they have money to burn.

This stuff used to be free before the age of broadband internet.

I fixed it for you.

Can we blame Microsoft? It really only started when their Xbox Live model took off.

Yeah, they really should of had this in the final product. They've been polishing it for a long while and could of easily added in that time.

The only thing worth buying as DLC is new campaigns that extend the game by 5 or more hours. That's what I want to see not tacked on multi-player shortly after the game comes out.

There's no way I'm paying for that.
DLC that consists of a feature released soon after the release of the game itself shouldn't be aloud by MS. It gives their whole XBox Marketplace a bad reputation.

How do they expect a death match mode to work in a game where you can't move while you shoot? If someone spots you before you see them you'll be dead before you can root yourself to the ground, draw your weapon and bring the laser sight upon them. And they want us to pay for the privilege?

If brand new games drop their release price to $50 then dlc released a few weeks after its release may be justified... but averaging $90 for a game, just to pay for something that should have just come with it is just plain cheap.

Well this should have came stock with the game, oh well, i fkn love the game so im gonna buy it.

If anything it is gonna increase the capcom stock..buy up all and let us reap the benefits.

BTW it could be a mercenaries mission for 4k points id still buy it the amount i love re5i 5.

This surely is a joke? Capcom couldn't of at least wait a month or so so it at least seemed like they weren't ripping us of. If it were a downloadable side mission I's be outraged but consider buying it, but multiplayer is Resident Evil's weakest part.
