Resident Evil 5 demo coming to Xbox 360 on the 26th of January

360 News | And it’s a public holiday...
It has been announced today that Xbox 360 owners will have access to an exclusive Resident Evil 5 demo from Monday the 26th of January – that’s right, Australia Day.

The demo comprises of two playable levels and will be available for one week. The media release states that “fans will have the opportunity to experience Resident Evil 5’s revolutionary new features early, including two-player co-op with voice chat along with new characters, weapons and environments. The demo is set within two stages from the beginning of the game – Assembly Place and Shanty Town – featuring plenty of co-operative action, shooting, hordes of bloodthirsty infected Majini enemies and a few puzzles to round out the action. The demo has three levels of co-op play: single-player with AI support, two-player split-screen on a single Xbox 360 and two-player across Xbox Live.”

We're also advised that 360 gamers will be the first to fight new enemies and will be able to choose between the classic Resident Evil-style controls or the new ‘Action’ controls inspired by games like Gears of War 2 and Halo 3.

In addition, a new high-definition trailer (previously only seen at the Tokyo Game Show in October 2008) will be available to download from Xbox Live from Friday the 16th of January. In the meantime, you can check out our preview of Resident Evil 5 from eGames 08 here.

I love it how this is a thread about a demo coming to XBL and it turns into a platfrom argument.

Can anyone tell me if I play this demo it will spoil the game for me at all when it is released?

Let me start by saying that PS3 is way better for COD online and I've had more Australian games than on 360. I have played COD 4 and WAW on 360 and it froze before I got connect to online matches, it lagged alot and often disconnected, but on PS3 it goes straight to matches, has less lag and a more stable connection....thats a fact.
That's not a fact, that's just your opinion based on your own experiences. Calling what you said a fact is like saying 'I saw a ufo, therefore aliens exist...thats a fact.'
No. It's a fact. He's not saying all PS3s run better online, he's saying online runs better on his PS3 than on his 360. It's nothing like saying 'aliens exist. '

His opinion is that Live isn't worth paying for. The fact is that he's had a better experience with PSN.

My opinion: I'd rather the free service. If it 'gets as good as Live' and I have to start paying - I'd sooner stop play games online. Full stop. But that's just me.

How bout that Resi 5 Demo.... icon_confused.gif

Commentator ,you do know there is 16 million+ people signed up to PSN? Didn't realise 16 million was a low player base...

I'm signed up to PSN, yet I've never owned a PS3. Remember, you are allowed to pre register your nickname.

No, it won't. But it might make you annoying when you start raving about it to your friends and find the month-and-a-half wait far too long to get the full game.

If you want to play the technicality game: The fact is he had a better experience with PSN, not that PSN delivers a better experience. It really was an ambiguous statement on his part whether he was saying the fact was his experience or his experience lead him to believe this 'fact' about all PS3s. But you know, I'm going to assume the latter, based on all the generalised information he has so gallantly provided us about PSN vs XBL.

Oh Resident Evil. Wasn't the demo available if you could fudge a japanese account or something a while back? Is it still possible to get it early?

Let's get even more technical (and off topic). He didn't say PSN was better than Live. He said "Live isn't better than PSN" and then he listed his opinion as to why.

So a clever bunny would assume those two comments go together to become an opinion of Live delivering a comparable service to PSN. which you were happy to neg. Because for some reason, that's an offensive thing to say.

Commentator decides Andy's opinion is wrong and then goes on to post a list of personal reasons why Live "wins" based on what he thinks is important in an online service and some other generalised comments. From then on, all comments are merely flame bait.

This whole argument made absolutely no sense!

Neither online service is perfect!

LIVE isn't perfect!

PSN isn't perfect!

I rate this thread a 4.5. The XBL vs. PSN argument has been done to death better elsewhere, and didn't resort to interpretations of a post. Seriously, it's not like it's the Dead Sea Scrolls or anything.

Look mate, I didn't neg him because I disagreed with his opinion, its because he attempted to present his opinion as fact. But yeah, totally agree with your last point, neither one is perfect, so the argument is moot really.

I could've sworn this thread was about Resident Evil 5, and the demo coming out on January 26th on XBOX Live... wait it is, so keep on topic, it's not meant as a discussion for XBOX Live vs. PSN.

headnote: I know its about resident evil etc, but i cant let this stupid comment stand.

according to its wiki article

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ps3

by the end of september last year ps3 had only sold 16.8 million units, add a further 1 -2 for christmas sales etc., but you have to be the biggest, most stupid idiot in in the world to think that virtually every ps3 player plays online. I think you would be lucky to get more than 300000 players online at any one time if that. You cant compare the player bases of 360 and ps3 players...

Everyone needs to get over themselves, both the PS3 and XBOX360 have their pros and cons but at the end of the day they are as good as one another.

Anywho, how come whenever PALGN say a demo is coming out it isn't ever out on the day they say? It's the 26th now and there is no Demo out. Whats the dealio?

I have a feeling it will be like the FEAR 3 Demo, Gold members only.
^ could very well be gold members only, but it's probably not up until 26th US time, so later tonight.

however, one of the little messages on the PS3 last night was "Resident Evil 5 demo now available on PSN", though i couldn't find it.

^ That's coming February 2nd (to the US store). I just checked the full page of that RSS feed.

That sux was hoping to download it today!

Thansk for the headsup.

ah yep. didn't actually look beyond the headline unfortunately. icon_redface.gif

i don't know if it specified the US store only before, but now it's saying Worldwide.

Is it only me that can't see the re5 demo on live ? well I figured out a way to download it .. via the http://marketplace.xbox.com/ website .. login in and then tell the site to download it to your console. The demo is under the adventure category.

Oh, well that's awesome. All I read was the date and then closed it, I just assumed US only because that's how it usually happens. PS Store updates usually happen in the early AM's of Friday (not usually Mondays which is the day of the 2nd)

Funny how it took us 3 attempts before we got the full information out of that bloody ticker feed thing.

Dude i'm just glad this game came out faster than the other ones did.

Sad to say, I'm not feeling it. I haven't watched many trailers or read many impressions, and still, I feel greatly underwhelmed. I knew it was just going to be Resident Evil 4.5, but it really felt it. The controls felt too loose and unresponsive and I kept getting A and X mixed up (that's my fault, but whatever).

That said the lack of ammo was good. And even though it is more intense then RE4, it didn't feel more intense, there was no spark. But I will withhold my final judgement until I sink my teeth into more with the full game, and hopefully I will be surprised.
Yeah the crappy controls killed it for me, although apparently you can switch them around.

well, after playing the demo, i'm on the verge of cancelling my pre-order. and it's not really because of my colour blindness, since this colour palette makes the laser quite visible to me.

i don't really know why tbh. the demo was a chore to play. i didn't get the thrill of playing it i thought i would. it lacked fun.
i'm really torn as to whether to cancel my preorder altogether, or just get it under the EB 7 day return policy and hope the game grabs me in it's final build.

Old school news..
i got this as soon as i knew the demo via pc download had appeared.

What can i say......

This game is gonna fkn rock.

If only this game had a score sort of system me n ugh would be the fkn crowned kings of this shiz.
As it is, I can get through both chapters of the demo no hits at all.

Can't wait til the full game to see the obligatory lab sequence which i will bet my left nut on will happen.
