Resident Evil 5 demo coming to Xbox 360 on the 26th of January

360 News | And it’s a public holiday...
It has been announced today that Xbox 360 owners will have access to an exclusive Resident Evil 5 demo from Monday the 26th of January – that’s right, Australia Day.

The demo comprises of two playable levels and will be available for one week. The media release states that “fans will have the opportunity to experience Resident Evil 5’s revolutionary new features early, including two-player co-op with voice chat along with new characters, weapons and environments. The demo is set within two stages from the beginning of the game – Assembly Place and Shanty Town – featuring plenty of co-operative action, shooting, hordes of bloodthirsty infected Majini enemies and a few puzzles to round out the action. The demo has three levels of co-op play: single-player with AI support, two-player split-screen on a single Xbox 360 and two-player across Xbox Live.”

We're also advised that 360 gamers will be the first to fight new enemies and will be able to choose between the classic Resident Evil-style controls or the new ‘Action’ controls inspired by games like Gears of War 2 and Halo 3.

In addition, a new high-definition trailer (previously only seen at the Tokyo Game Show in October 2008) will be available to download from Xbox Live from Friday the 16th of January. In the meantime, you can check out our preview of Resident Evil 5 from eGames 08 here.

I don't know about any other PS3 owners, but i think it might be time to re-invest in a 360. Only due to the massive increase in exclusive DLC. Its the only thing swaying me that way.

Same demo that's been on the Japanese marketplace for some time now I imagine.. Same demo we've all played...
Yeah I agree with toolmansevendust, but I have a 360 aswell, so yeah.

But I don't think I'll get the demo as I will be purchasing this game on PS3.

PS3 owners

The demo isn't actually exclusive, just timed-exclusive for a week. It will be up on the PSN on the 5th of February,
I'm rather ashamed to say this, but I never played a Resident Evil game. This'll be the first.

PS3Fanboy.com">PS3 version of Resident Evil 5 to include exclusive documentary

Gamers planning to pick up the PS3 version of Resident Evil 5 come this March can expect to have a nice extra feature tucked away snugly on their game disc. Taking advantage of the massive space found a Blu-ray disc, Capcom is adding in a making-of-Resident Evil 5 documentary produced from "Hollywood staff."

While the bonus material is currently secured for the Japanese RE5 release, there's still no word whether it will be seen in Western releases. Considering that the PS3 version's content is on the game disc itself and is supposedly made from Hollywood, we're thinking there is a good chance Capcom will include it for North American and European releases.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..

Xboxlive is better than PSN as it gets things earlier (SSF2HD anyone?) but you pay for the service.. it makes sense..

If xboxlive was on par with PSN, then Microsoft would have a lot to answer for, namely where the hell my $80 a year is going?
So it gets a few things earlier, but Xboxlive isn't better than PSN. IMO PSN has the better service, its free, has free themes and you can download full PS3 games.

Also I find gaming online better on PS3 than 360 and I paid $80 for Live. Won't be doing that again.

Anyone know whether Xbox Silver members will have access to this or be locked out?

Sweet. Can't wait for it.

im sorry but you must be joking if you think that the ps3 service comes near xbox 360.

Player base: 360
better support for online games: 360
more servers: 360
more downloads etc: 360
special features eg netflix: 360
people on mics : 360
aussie servers: 360
price: ps3.

ps3 online is a poor man's xbox live, and once ps3 online becomes as good as xbox 360 ps3 will start charging you for it

360 / AUS Servers - please provide details about what AUS servers there are and what games are running on them.
Special features -Netflix is NOT available in AUS,come up with a better example.
Mics on 360 - huge majority of people don't use their mics on 360
Better support - where are all the FREE updates that appear on PC but have yet to see the light of day on 360.
More downloads = more rubbish

Don't accuse me of being a PS3 fanboy either as i play BOTH online and each has it's own strengths and weaknesses.

360 has more australian players hence a higher chance of getting australia hosted games.

The special features still exist, not everything is about aus, and many wil end up coming.

As for mics i dont know what planet your on but 90% of the people i play with have mics...

as for support there are many many updates to 360 games, Every time i pop in a new game I get updates etc. (unless its brand new) and continue to get them. your thinking of DLC.

if you truly arent a ps3 fanboy do your own weigh up of them both honestly.

Ive played cod4 and 5 both on 360 and ps3 and have to say 360 **** all over it.

and for the record you can buy a 360 arcade and buy the rest of the consoles lifespan of live and you will sitll pay less than a ps3. Also remember 80 is only the standard price, online is alot cheper and you can ususally pick em up from here or XBW for $60

Or $20 at brick and mortar stores quite often.

So getting regular patches is a good thing? I thought it would be bad, proves 360 games are more buggy than PS3 games.
patches dont alwys patch bugs you nobbit, alot of the time they are balance updates etc. and more updates mean the dev. cares more to improve and fix the game. If you honestly think the ps3 online >= 360 then You are a massive fanboy

I've played and own both systems.

Let me start by saying that PS3 is way better for COD online and I've had more Australian games than on 360. I have played COD 4 and WAW on 360 and it froze before I got connect to online matches, it lagged alot and often disconnected, but on PS3 it goes straight to matches, has less lag and a more stable connection....thats a fact.

Mics, now why is this relevant? Sure more people have mices on Live, but how does this make it better? It's fun to talk, but I've found more annoying teen's talking crap on Live. I don't want to listen to that, hence why I prefer PS3..People are more mature in general.

If your truly not a PS3 fanboy lol....seems you a 360 fanboy, so don't say that crap.

You say a 360 is cheaper, sure the console may be cheaper, but thats an Arcade. Then you have to pay for a hard drive, live, charging kit. But with PS3 I paid $649 for an 80GB, that came with a $100 game and no online fees, charging kits etc. So work it out, its not that much expensive than a 360.

I do prefer the PS3 over the 360 now, cause I find it good that everything is there in the box, the only extra thing I brought was a headset. I'm sick of Microsoft charging for every little thing.

I prefer PS3 online, and I have had a 360 longer than a PS3, though I did sell it. I rarely lag on the PS3, but I lagged more on the 360. And I hate full games of people with mics, a few scream profanities every 10 seconds, other people make annoying noises etc, this regularly happened on teh 360. On the PS3 I don't think I have found an annoying person with a mic, and rather a few people with mics, means you can actually talk to them.

Bobboblaw is correct this demo is not exclusive....it is exclusve for a couple of days and only because Xbox store is updated on an earlier day of the week.

Are you serious? Because of a DEMO! Gee I don't even bother wasting my bandwidth on half these demos particular if It's getting rave reviews. I guess if you want to take a backwards step though go right ahead.

That's not a fact, that's just your opinion based on your own experiences. Calling what you said a fact is like saying 'I saw a ufo, therefore aliens exist...thats a fact.'

a) You can mute people you don't want to listen to.
b) Mics are incredibly useful when playing team based games online. It's hard to have good communication and coordination with players who can't talk to you.
c) PS3 owners in general are more mature? Whatever **** helps you sleep at night.

No matter how many times fanboys try to fudge the maths by using rrp for all the 360 peripherals, it still works out considerably cheaper to buy a 360 than a PS3. This is mostly because of Bluray, hence why even after buying all the accessories, a 360 is still quite a bit cheaper.

The concept Microsoft was going for was: Buy what you need. I'd rather be able to pick and choose what I want in my console to avoid having to pay for things I don't want/need/won't use.

Is the PS3 a better console? On paper, hell yeah. But I'm not sure there really is a 'better' console, as each one caters for different needs, fills a different niche. Its understandable why people go to such lengths to argue console superiority, but its really just a justification of purchase, a way of reassuring themselves they made the right decision with the sizable amount of money it costed to buy the console they chose. Although I'm always interested when the bias remains even after the rival console was purchased.

^ Spot on. And for the record, sambo etc say they 'lagged more' om the 360, which makes no sense due to the fact you can find an australian game every time on WAW etc, considering lag is most common at across seas games, which ps3 has alot of due to the fact that it has a much lower player base in games.

At the end of the day, a ps3 offers a good online service, but it isnt comparative to the xbox 360. Also it must be noted that even if you can get aussie games on cod etc, what about all the other smaller games that you can barely get host on 360? they must be like hell on ps3. The minute ps3';s online gets competent enough you will be slapped with an $80 charge too.
