Gears 2 multiplayer gets patched

360 News | Matchmaking now faster.
Epic has been kind enough to release a multiplayer patch for their Xbox 360 shooter, Gears of War 2, in an attempt to resolve some of the problems with the game's matchmaking system.

According to a forum post on Epic's website, helping reduce wait times for public matchmaking is the reduction of matchmaking servers. This will apparently greatly increase the number of potential matches a player has, resulting in a faster match. In addition, the forum post notes that some of these changes would have immediate effects, while others will take some time.

In addition, Epic has fixed the bug that resulted in some multiplayer matches not having its statistics saved to gearsofwar.com. Apparently, this problem was caused by the sheer volume of simultaneous games.

Finally, a bug that saw some players unable to play the campaign mode if Xbox Live was down has been resolved.

The forum post suggested that potential gameplay issues would be addressed in future patches.

Good. Hopefully they don't make similar mistakes when the next game comes out. It's a short wait but a wait we all shouldn't have to endure.

Still doesn't fix the fact that we get matched with Americans and have laggy games though...

I've found I've paired up with Aussies more.

Sure, still get the odd American game, but generally those games aren't too bad.

I wish the game didn't decide to be a ***** and take 5,000 kills off my profile. icon_n1.gif

Ok, I'm starting to experience a lot more laggy games. Sometimes I'm a good 8 seconds behind e everyone else.

Didn't fix a thing for me. Infact i couldn't be paired up with anyone at all today, or it found people then they left or some bs.

I really cannot understand why Epic did not stick with the simple system GoW1 had...

Loving the online. Never really got into GoW 1 online but this certainly kicks ass.

Fixed it for me

Also doesn't fix the fact that you can't play online multiplayer with two player split screen like you could with Gears 1. RETARDED!!!

Now that really does suck. I didn't realise that till you mentioned it. I play splitscreen 80% of the time that im on LIVE so that's a real kick in the balls.

Haven't tried it personally yet, but I've got two mates who play split screen online with me all the time...

Is it because you are trying "Public" games which are ranked?
You couldn't play ranked games split screen in Gears 1 either...
You can only play on private matches split screen...
