Developer Backbone Entertainment - whose latest work includes Death Jr II, Commando 3 and 1942: Joint Strike - are in charge of the project, as they attempt to mash over 40 games from the 16 bit generation into one disc.
A full list of games hasn't been revealed yet, but Sonic 1, 2 and 3 will be accounted for, as will the three Streets of Rage games. Also making an appearance will be Columns, Ecco the Dolphin, Alien Storm and Space Harrior.
Making things a bit more interesting is the promise of 720p support for all the games, for those of you with HD compatible tellies.
The package will be dubbed the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, and is due for a release in the first quarter of next year.
