Guitar Hero World Tour bargain round-up

360 News | You'll be rocking 'n' rolling for this one.
It’s time to take out those plastic instruments and rock the night away - or at least until your neighbours tell you to turn it down - Guitar Hero World Tour is officially released tomorrow. As usual, we’ve compiled a list of specials which will be on offer across Aussie retailers. Before we get started though, we’re going to explain the different packs that are available.

As most of you would know, there are three different versions of Guitar Hero World Tour. These are the standalone game, Guitar Bundle and Complete Bundle. The standalone game should only be purchased if you already own a compatible guitar peripheral or a set of the Rock Band instruments for your desirable console. It normally retails for $89.95 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, $79.95 for Wii and $69.95 for PlayStation 2. The Guitar Bundle includes a copy of the game and a wireless guitar peripheral. These usually cost $169.95 on the Xbox 360 and PS3, $159.95 on Wii and $149.95 on PS2. Last but not least is the Complete Bundle, which includes a copy of the game, a wireless guitar, wireless drums and a wireless microphone. The additional peripherals allow players to take advantage of extra gameplay features, and are also compatible with Rock Band. Being the most expensive, it retails for $329.95 on the Xbox 360 and PS3, $319.95 on Wii and $299.95 on PS2.

Now for the important stuff – who has the cheapest price? Remarkably, GAME are charging just $64 for the standalone game across all consoles. In case they run out of stock, your best alternative is Big W, who are charging $78 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, $68.83 for Wii and $64.92 for PS2. Next up is the Guitar bundle. GAME continue to steal the show by charging just $129 for the 360, PS3 and Wii versions, with Kmart charging $124 for the PS2 bundle. If you need an alternative, then Kmart are charging $139 for the 360/PS3 pack, while Big W have a price tag of $138 for Wii and $128 for the PS2. And now for the arguably most popular pack, the Complete bundle. 360/PS3 fans should head into Kmart for a price tag of $269, while Dick Smith and Big W are second best at $278. Similarly, Wii owners will be charged $259 at Kmart, and $268 at Big W and JB Hi-Fi. Last up is the PS2 version, which is only $248 at both JB Hi-Fi and Big W.

For a complete list of bargains please look below. All these specials will be included in this week’s Australian Gaming Bargains feature, which will be published by PALGN on Wednesday afternoon. Until then, keep those plastic instruments smokin’.

*(1)Please note that the Big W, GAME, Kmart and Target prices don’t officially start until Thursday, November 13. Because of this you may have to wait until then to take advantage of their offers. (2) N/A means price was not available at time of round-up.

EB melbourne central, i go in, i say price match JB?, he says yep that will be 79$. I get that anytime i go in there and price match, no phone calls, no catalogues.

Will be picking up just the game for this today as i have grown fond of my rock band drums.

@emech, after punishing those rock band drums for the last week i can assure you that the reason the foot pedal breaks is due to it not being played correctly. Once you work out the "trick" to using the pedal like a normal drummer would and not punching your foot down on it, it's fine. Also people were playing it with their foot half way up the pedal with their heel on the "weak" point of the pedal rather than the heel on the flat part of the pedal. The arch of your foot should be across the weak point if you play like that so no pressure on it.

I called up Harvey Norman (just around the corner from me), they said they'd price match DSE's $278 but they're not allowed to release the game until Friday according to the distributor. I then called Domayne (a few blocks away) and they'll happily match it. Come oooon lunchtime!

Edit: just picked it up, the dude at Domayne thought I was talking about Rock Band... ("they're the same thing"). Fortunately the other staff member on hand checked and found they had it waiting in the warehouse, so sent the other salesman to go get it for me... icon_lol.gif

I just got mine from Big W. NOT a pre-order. Straight off the shelf. It's definately $258 for the complete bundle (game, guitar, mic and drums).

Oh dear. I just went to Kmart and bought my boyfriend (yes im a chick, with no clue in this stuff) the guitar hero world tour.
I looked at the box....it said ps2,ps3,xbox,wii.....and I took it up the counter and put that and a playstation 3 on laybe so that he didn't not go snooping before xmas and find it.
I have now gotten home and thought "should the box only have one console name on it?, not all of them"

Damn Kmart are bad at answering any questions....I thought I was bad!!!

Now im stressing that I have put the wrong thing on layby.

Gosh!!!!!

Do all the boxes have all the consoles printed on the box....Im pretty sure they dont. Seeing as though JB HIFI didn't.

HELP!!!

Oh thank you so much!
I payed $259 for it.
I'm guessing I have put the wii or something on layby....instead for that price.

Correct, according to this,

http://www.kmart.com.au/catalogue/Catalogue.aspx?CatalogueID=41&WT.mc_id=cat|Christmas_Launch|20081113

wii is 259, ps3 is 269.

The 360 version has the white band with "Xbox 360" on it around the top of the box like all 360 games do.

Anyone else found their drums are stuffed in some way? If I hit blue or orange too hard, green sometimes triggers... already ordered the USB MIDI drum tuning thing from the site...

I have to hit my yellow cymbal fairly hard to register, it is impossible to do drum roll on the cymbal... I will start warranty registering process and if I don't hear from them I probably just return to EBs... sigh, I had high hopes for the drums.

over heard some young mum today @ EB saying that BigW is apparently in competition with "some other company" and has thusly dropped prices for wii/360/ps3 GH:WT SUPER BUNDLES to $248.

The EB guy price matched for her, but Im not sure if its the real deal or just something she made up on the spot and got away with.

Does anyone know the cheapest place to but the stand alone version of Rock Band?

Picked up GHWT Big Pack on Wii at clive anthony's yesterday. It was the only shop around Brisbane that had some left and I paid $168. Very cheap, and they gave me excellent service promising me if anything wasn't working when I got home, take it back and they will exchange it straight away.

That's exactly what happened. My guitar was screwed... it wasn't Clive Anthony's fault obviously, it obviously had just been wired incorrectly.

Anyway... I exchanged it and my current one is awesome!

So if you live in or around Brisbane try Clive Anthony's. Cheap and they have a lot in stock.
