Lips gets localised

360 News | Eight Aussie artists appear in local version of the game.
While we unveiled the game's full track list last week, a new week has more more news in the karaoke stylings of Lips, with eight Aussie acts getting the nod to appear in the local version of the title.

Aussie vocalists will be able to belt out the tunes of favourite artists such as Silverchair, Kylie Minogue and Missy Higgins. Even the oldies will get a kick out of Lips as players will be able to perform a couple of numbers from classic acts such as Men At Work, Cold Chisel and John Farnham, who supplies his signature tune "You're The Voice."

On top of the already revealed international tracklist, the game will the music of these top Australian artists:
  • Cold Chisel - "Khe Sahn"
  • John Farnham - "You're The Voice"
  • Kylie Minogue - "Love At First Sight"
  • Men At Work - "Be Good Johnny"
  • Missy Higgins - "Scar"
  • Olivia Newton-John - "Magic"
  • Shannon Noll- "Shine"
  • Silverchair - "Straight Lines"

i don't want to get into any music debate or anything, i have nothing against them, but i really don't think parkway drive would be good for this type of game

the living end's prisoner of society, now that'd be a great song to whip out after you've had a few drinks with your mates and got the 360 going

Isn't Prisoner of Society on Guitar Hero World Tour? So you could.

How the hell are you meant to sing anything by Missy Higgins?

Well good luck if you're an immigrant - it must be sung/spoken with a strong Aussie accent!
Pretty sure accents have nothing to do with pitch. If the game actually tries to make you mimic their voice entirely, then it's a pretty **** vocal game.

OK, fair enough. I've never played a SingStar-styled game before.

Anyone know if the microphone is compatible with Guitar Hero/Rock Band?

My money is on no, simply because the GH/RB mics are wired USB and the Lips one is wireless. But even if not i am going to get it for the the fact you can use your own music icon_smile.gif (We azns are so fixated on Karaoke that we may buy a Xbox simply as a Karaoke machine). Sighing at my mountain of fake instruments, 4 plastic guitars, 1 drum set, 3 microphone and 2 maracas... when will it stop... I know!!! Wii Music will save me (I'm doomed).

I can confirm that you can't use the Guitar Hero mic for Lips. However I did manage to get 70 odd achievement points in the game without a mic. Seriously!

The wireless Mics are good, they seem a little hefty though... As if they were designed for clonking people over the head when they got over excited. Also Your The Voice is a bloody difficult song icon_eek.gif
