Fallout 3 bargain round-up

360 News | You'll fall out of your chair if you pay full price.
Fallout 3 is officially released on Friday October 31st, and to celebrate we’ve compiled a list of specials across Australian retailers. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions normally retail for $119.95, while the PC version is slightly cheaper with a suggested retail price of $99.95.

Unsurprisingly, most retailers are charging similar prices for the game. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions can be snapped up for $89 at JB Hi-Fi and Kmart, while Dick Smith is charging just 74 cents more. For PC gamers, Kmart, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman are the best places to go as they’re charging a mere $79.

In case your wallet is still recovering from the global economy crisis, or if you’re simply a cheap skate, then you’ll be please to hear there are a number of trade-in deals on offer. First up, JB Hi-Fi is offering the 360 and PS3 versions for FREE when you trade-in three games – just remember to check their exclusions list (.pdf file) before heading into your local store. In contrast, you can pick up the console versions for $19.95 at EB Games when you trade-in two games, though you’ll need to make sure they’re on the eligible titles list. Lastly is GAME’s trade-in deal, where they’ll give you a 50% discount on any version of Fallout 3 if you trade in one eligible game (see below). Unfortunately, the deal expires on the 31st of October, so you only have two days to take advantage of it.

I know it isnt really a bargain ATM with the way the $AU is but it may be nice to put how much it is through didital download services like Steam as well, though noting that the steam price would be in $US. which makes is $110 with today's rates icon_sad.gif.

Is this placed in the wrong category? Pretty sure it's not only 360 news icon_razz.gif

EB has the collectors edition for $119.95... you can also apply 15% off with the webmail voucher I suppose... that makes it just a bit over $100. Question is, just how much is a bobble head, making of dvd, a lunch box worth? IMO the extra paid more than justifies the extras icon_biggrin.gif

If anyone wants the PC standard edition you can get it from CDWOW for 51.95 with free postage. Linky

As far as I know the standards are $119.95, so I imagine the collectors are more than that. Don't quote me though.

^ probably meant the PC version. the standard edition PC version is $20 cheaper than the console standard editions, and from memory, the console CEs are $140 - so it ties in.

but yeah, 15% off vouchers for the win.

I swear last time i looked on the EB Website, the standard edition at EB was $109.95..

The RRP was raised across the board unfortunately.

They can't put it in multiple sections. (I asked the samething awhile ago)

I'm so spewing. Came so close to buying Fallout 3 from K-Mart today. Went there on my lunch break, and all versions were on the shelves at RRP prices. I went back 2 hours later after I finished work, and they were all gone, obviously someone realised it wasn't meant to be sold icon_sad.gif. Oh well another couple of days won't hurt.

It's going to be in next week's Big W catalogue for $88.

Woo fallout 3 in just over 2 days, depending on how you want to look at it icon_biggrin.gif

And yeah I did mean pc version icon_razz.gif I saw a few display boxes priced at $119.95..I was tempted to put a pre-order down though, but not while the missus was around. So planning to sneak a trip to EB in before I see her on Friday for lunch .

*edit* Anyone know whats the stock levels for the CE within EB? Dont want to rock up on friday and find out their out across the whole state icon_sad.gif

Does anyone know that if I was to pricematch Fallout 3 at EB would I also be able to use a 15% off voucher?
They didn't let me do that when i picked up Star Wars, but you can try!

Is $140 worth it for the CE? Honestly, unless EB price match the CE down to $89 from JB, I don't consider the extra worth $51.

What's the CE going for @ JB?

What BurnZ said. If you click to the PS3 and PC sections of PALGN though, it appears there as well.

The collectors are $139.95, according to the EB website. For some reason though, this afternoon they were taken down, hence why I haven't mentioned the collector's edition in the article. Very strange, unless they've sold out (via pre-orders).

$million.

might as well be, since the CE is exclusive to EB.

I think JB and GAME are offering different "Collector's Editions" to EB....dunno about prices though, but i recall GAME's one being the same as the regular version.

Also interestingly when i paid off my EB CE pre-order last week, the guy asked "What was the price of the CE when you first pre-ordered" and i replied, truthfully, "$129.95" and so it appears he is only charging me the initial $129.95 price for the 360 CE.

True story.

You can use the 15% off wEBmail voucher to bring it down to $118.96...

^ or $101.08 for the pc version..

assuming they haven't sold out already through pc preoders..

Thats based on what I saw today, pc CE being $119.95. Heres to hoping there isnt a $20 price hike on firday morning 9am.

^ If you want a CE for PC and didn't pre-order I'd recommend at early visit to your local. Seriously.
