360 News | You'll have your friends begging you for mercy.

The lyrics are not onscreen!?!

Kind of funny that the Pussy Cat Dolls are promoting this game and don't even have a track on it.

Only for songs that you upload from your mp3 player, everything else has words.

Just curious. Would this work with RB/GH:WT?
Some awesome songs on there IMO, but I was never really going to buy this no matter what the songs were as you can sing in GHWT if so inclined.

On another note, how does uploading your own songs work? Does it just score you against how in time you are to the music, or is it just sing along for fun? If the first option, cool, but how would it work? If the second option, lame.

yeah i noticed the pcd anomaly too

there doesnt seem to be enough pop/rnb tracks that would appeal to younger people who like pcd (who dont have a song on the game???? but are promoting it)

Now that the "use your own MP3s" feature is essentially useless, this is nothing more than a Singstar wannabe.

It's good if you don't own a PS3/PS2, but if you do, I can't see any reason to buy this.

Why is it useless?

I disagree-
I own a PS3 and have the whole catalogue of PS2 and PS3 singstar games and I will be buying Lips as well - For other features like pick up and play for multiplayer, as well as using the motion control mikes as instruments ....

On the MP3 support:
Kotaku wrote
Kotaku">One of Lips' biggest value propositions is its ability to stream in music from MP3 players, external hard drives and Windows Media Centre. When we saw the function at E3, it was still incomplete, with the promise of more information to come. According to Microsoft, your "digital rights management-free songs" will be supported by Lips, but that the title "won't be launching day one with any lyrics support." iNiS's Keiichi Yano told us at E3 that the developer had a "creative solution" coming, so we hope that this feature hasn't been dropped.
Sounds like they'll be releasing support for lyrics down the track - hopefully sooner rather than later. Disappointing sure, but the ability to Singstar-like along to songs that you actually know and like is still a pretty damned huge draw I reckon.

Did you say "Launch day DLC packs, 400 points each"?

How can one find out if their music is "drm free"
with a title like "Full Lips tracklist revealed", i was expecting more Rolling Stones, or Aerosmith...

Isn't this the US tracklist? AUS version has, among others, Khe Sahn, and is also based on the European list, with stuff like Kaiser Chiefs (Ruby ruby ruby rubyyyyy). That's what this thread is telling me at least: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339712

When I plug in my ipod to my 360 via usb, all of the MP3 tracks I ripped myself are accessible, but only some of the albums purchased from itunes work. These are usually the more "independent" artists (e.g. Dr Steel) with the more mainstream albums being locked to the ipod.

So any MP3 should be ok.

To be honest, I think it's a pretty crappy track list... Too many 'obscure', (not known by mainstream), songs on there.

Not a track list that will convince me to buy it. My opinion only,

^ The heck? Except for the one or two band/artist names I don't recognize (and this is from someone who doesn't listen to the radio, and barely watches TV), everything on these has been popular and commercially successful. Which is what you'd expect from this type of game.

I'm stoked about the whole "using your own music" shindig on offer.

Yes, I know this topic was bumped but so what, I forgot to give my input last time and it's only been a month.
