Portal coming to XBLA next week

360 News | Hug your companion cube in glee.
It's time to grab your portal guns and return to the Aperture Science Enrichment Centre as Microsoft has comfirmed that Portal: Still Alive will be unleashed onto the Xbox Live Arcade Marketplace on Wednesday, October 22.

In addition to the award-winning gameplay that captured the hearts of PC gamers everywhere, Portal: Still Alive will provide Xbox 360 users with fourteen new challenge maps, which are exclusive to XBLA.

If you don't have any Microsoft Points on hand you'd better stock up as Portal: Still Alive will set you back 1200 MS Points for the privilege of mixing it up with GLaDOS.

Will this come to pc? Seeings Portal was multi-platform I don't see why they would release an expansion on just one.

It does say exclusive to XBLA. I wish this was coming out on more platforms, me love the Portal.

is this an add on to the game? or a completely separate thing?

It's sounds strange to say, but I'm not interested in this much at all because the puzzles were only a small part of what made Portal great for me. If the game had you simply selecting different levels to solve with the portal gun, it would have still been clever and fun, but not great. What I'm trying to say is that all the elements pieced together, the humour and discovery along the way (amongst a lot of others stuff) made this one of my favourite games, but I'm not interested in mere add on's. I guess it's similar to the Bioshock DLC (although I don't have a PSS3 anyway), I enjoyed the game because of the story and the experience searching through the beautiful environment, not really for the game play mechanics. It's for that same reason that I don't want DLC of just more levels or challenges, becuase IMO, they aren't what made the game great. Hope you understand what I'm getting at as I don't know if I worded it exactly right.

Alright, LISTEN UP CHILDREN.
Remember Portal:The Flash Version?

well that team turned that into a map pack for the official portal. That is all that this is. This has been avaliable for the PC (and is excellent) for a long time, and for free.

Also, you do not take on GLaDOS, so that's inaccurate, and its not a gravity gun. its an ASHPD. Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. a portal gun.

As for PS3, ...... buy it on PC.

for those interested, you can get the unofficial expansion for portal here.

http://www.portalprelude.com/

It comes in the form of a mod and is about 700mb, I haven't actually tried it personally, but from what I read around the place, its the bees knees icon_biggrin.gif

I'm definitely going to get stuck into this mod as soon as possible.
Thanks for the heads up, Zhou! Glad to continue on the Portal magic.

PALGN really should review this mod.

agree with Qbert here, the best bit of portal was when you had to break out of the training facility, because that's when the story and atmosphere was turned on its head. The humour throughout the game was CLASS and discovering how to use the guns was also an incredible experience. Now that we know how to use them and the story has come to an end, I'm not sure how much this game can give. I am still getting it though... that was never a doubt!
