Banjo-Kazooie for XBLA priced and dated

360 News | Oh, and Tooie is coming next year.
The Xbox Live Arcade port of Rare's much-loved Nintendo 64 platformer, Banjo-Kazooie, is set to be released on the 26th of November.

If you're interested - and it certainly seems like a lot of you are - it will come at the cost of 1200 MS points. If that's a bit rich for you, all Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts pre-orders will come complete with a download code for the original free of charge. Best of all, the code will work two weeks before the game's official release on Xbox Live. Not bad.

This comes as no surprise, given that Rare is keen to push the Stop N' Swop aspect of the series, where achievements obtained in the Arcade game will unlock various features in Nuts & Bolts.

Banjo fans will be in for another treat early next year, with a Live Arcade port of Banjo-Tooie, the dubiously titled N64 sequel to the original game.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is scheduled for release in November.

Any word if this pre-order bonus is happening here or just in the US?

Well thats just awesome. I loved Banjo to death but never got a chance to play Tooie. Bring it on.

Banjo overload in November! Looking forward to playing the original again!

I saw a 9 minute video of this on the web somewhere. It looks awesome. Cannot wait!

Ahhh I'll be off on leavers (yes, I'm a toolie) at the time, I want Banjo ASAP. Might have to pre order so I can get a code.

Day after exams finish for the semester, awesome. It's kind of sad that the game I want most coming to 360 is a 10 year old one that I've played before.

Anyone know which retailers are offering the preorder deal here?

Uhh.. am I the only one slightly irked at the 1200 points price? I mean, I could justify it for something like Braid, or Castle Crashers, original games by smaller devs.

But this is Banjo Kazooie, a ten year old port (or maybe it's just running under an emulator like many XBLA games) being published by Microsoft, with the assurance it will print money. Why on earth is it 1200 points?

If it's running under an emulator, that's probably why it's 1200 points.

Sure its the original Banjo-Kazooie, but it will have added and updated content. Plus it's worth every penny IMO.....But just get the pre order code, then it won't cost you extra.

It does look enhanced somewhat graphics wise. We'd be playing $15 for it on the Wii VC (if it could have been released there). So 1200 points really doesn't worry me.

I still want Conker as well on the Xbox Originals.

Shame that banjo kazooie and tooie aren't getting a simultaneous release...I guess that's the way it goes.

Having clocked kazooie i'm waiting for the tooie add-on for something new.

Ill definately be there. I havn't played Banjo in years. I think its worth every cent, back in the day it gave me hours and hours of gameplay.

Not that I wouldn't like it cheaper though.

Because it's a bit unreasonable to give Banjo Kazooie and games like Geometry Wars 2 the same dollar value. Nintendo charge a similar price for N64 VC games on their service, and those are untouched, whereas BK has achievements and most likely a higher resolution.

Honestly are people this tight arsed when it comes to games?
Especially awesome ones like banjo etc ...geo wars too.

Maybe I just earn too much too give a fk about this trifle.

I wasn't aware that the game-making/porting process and/or the size of the developers had an effect on the price of an Arcade game icon_question.gif (Not being sarcastic or condescending here, it just seems like an odd procedure to me if true). Surely they are charging 1200 points because obviously they know people are going to pay that much for a classic. I'd happily pay 1600+ points for Banjo Tooie when thats released, even though i currently own an N64 version, just for the sake of greater convenience and access (instead of having to find, unbox and plug in my N64 and taking the time trying to get it to work) and because of HD graphics and Achievements. I'd flog off my N64 version in the process too of course though...

Plus i think another reason for charging 1200 points is to encourage people to pre-order/buy Nuts and Bolts, maybe people will be suckered into buying that new game (especially at an RRP of $69.95) just for the sake of getting a free Arcade game...consider me one of those suckers icon_razz.gif

But seriously, i was planning to get N&B anyway, I just want confirmation Australia are being offered that deal, and if so whether its only selected chains (since i'll be pre-ordering it at GAME).

1200 points - putting the $ in M$

Was I the only one who saw 1200 points and thought "yeah, fair enough. Just release it already"

It's Banjo on the 360, with touch ups and we're bitching about $20? This is a game that we all know if one of the best games there's ever been. Gee whiz.

It is happening in Australia, just I'm not sure which stores will be participating.

Rare's site says the following:

http://www.rare.co.uk/company/news.html

25/9/08: Freebie and the Bear

Latest Viva Piñata news! Not really. This time we've rounded up all the details to date on the Nuts & Bolts pre-order scheme with the Banjo-Kazooie XBLA giveaway, because you asked and we love you.

For the blissfully unaware: it's an offer allowing those who pre-order Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (from certain retailers in certain territories – see below) to download the Xbox Live Arcade version of the original Banjo-Kazooie not only for free, but roughly two weeks in advance of its public release date. Which is not just awesome, but awesome in the voice of the surfer dude fish from SpongeBob SquarePants.

You'll get the free B-K download token on or near the time you pick up Nuts & Bolts, and for the period between the launch of the two games (Nuts & Bolts on November 11th/14th in US/Europe, B-K XBLA on November 26th), only N&B pre-order customers will be able to download and play B-K XBLA.

The price of Nuts & Bolts will vary by region (so it's no good shouting at us, disgruntled Brits) and Microsoft is still in the process of finalising all the territorial details, but here's what we know of participating countries and retailers so far...

UK: Amazon, Play.com, Game and Gamestation
USA: Amazon, EBGames, GameStop and GameCrazy
FRANCE: Micromania and Game
SPAIN: Game
ITALY: GameStop
SCANDINAVIA: Game and GameStop

Other countries known to be running the promotion but with no specific retailer info as yet: CANADA, JAPAN, IRELAND, GERMANY, AUSTRIA, BENELUX, SWITZERLAND, AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND, probably not Uzbekistan or Narnia.

We'll update this page if and when we get further news and confirmation. Now go! Exploit the random generosity! That's what it's there for.

Woohoo well for that price (of 70 bucks with b-k from n64 I am happy to bite.) Now if I only new if JB or Big W would do the deal (better than EB the rip off they are).
