Prince of Persia release date announced

360 News | Sharpen your sword and strap on your sandals.
Ubisoft has confirmed today that the new Prince of Persia title will be released on December 4th for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The DS will be getting its own unique title, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, to be released on the same date.

Ubisoft has advised that the latest Prince of Persia game opens a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe and in addition will introduce a 'fresh illustrative art style, evolved combat system, open world structure and dynamic AI – most notably in the form of the Prince’s powerful ally Elika.'

For further details, check out our preview. A selection of screenshots from both titles are below.

Dam, I love all the games in the series, the art style in this looks crap! Might be giving this a miss based on these images.

TR0Y J: Like a lot of games nowadays, you really can't tell much from screenshots. There was a chunk of in-game footage shown at E3 this year, I'd suggest giving it a look.

I think the art and overall direction they're taking the game in is awesome. Especially like the sort of semi cel-shaded look. Reminds me a little of Okami, though not as artistic.

By the way, is this confirmed as the Australian date?

Can someone explain to me the red riding hood in the DS Game?

I was sold on this game so long ago, it looks gorgeous.

I think the new art style will work a beauty! It will allow the developers to implement their initial art concepts into the game and will also take care of any clipping issues, allowing for a much fluid style of gameplay! It worked well with XIII and that was on XBOX and this looks heaps better! Can't wait for this!

Does this make sense to anyone?

Just preordered this yesterday for my wife. She is looking forward to this one alot.

I think that by having cel-shaded graphics this game won't be subject to clipping (which makes no sense) as another game, XIII, released on the original XBox didn't have clipping (apparantly) and it was also cel-shaded.

Can't wait for this one. The art style, illustrative visuals are actually what have intrigued me most. But I remember it was only towards the beginning of the year when anything to do with a new Prince of Persia game were just rumors. I just hope Ubisoft haven't rush this one too much, but I'm sure they started development years ago (especially considering that Ubisoft "leak" that happened a couple of years ago now.)

Sweet, just in time for Christmas!

While I don't particularly like the art style (it looks like half-cel shaded PS2 era models), I'm really looking forward to this. I heart me some Prince of Persia, especially when it isn't Warrior Within-ified.

My biggest complaint is that Nolan North is doing the voice of the Prince. I love the guy's work, but he doesn't exactly have a lot of range. Desmond from Assassin's Creed, Nate from Uncharted and now the Prince of Persia all have exactly the same voice.

It looks good, but I reckon they were inspired by Strider. Makes me wonder what Capcom could have done if they made Strider a proper 3d platformer.

It's crazy but I'm not really feeling it anymore. My hype for this game up and left one day. Just like that. Yes it looks great but... that's about all it has going for it, at least in my eyes.

What I've seen of the gameplay seems far too samey from the past PoP games. It's like Ubisoft put most of the their time and effort creating the gorgeous new art style and forgot to reinvigorate the gameplay.

Mind you, I'm a massive fan of the Sands of Time trilogy. Those games list among my favorites of the past generation. But that's were they should stay IMO. What I want from the new generation of the PoP series is something that doesn't so closely resemble the games of the past. I feel the same way about RE5 too so it's not like my opinions of this are unique to this series. A new generation should usher new directions, at least in most cases.

I think the new direction for it is mainly comming from the combat aspect wich honestly is what I'm really excited for. I see what you mean the platforming does look pretty much the same, if the platforming hadn't been **** perfect in the first three I'd be worried icon_razz.gif
