V8 Supercars coming to GRID this year

360 News | And additional content coming before that.
Codemasters has revealed that the V8 Supercars will be coming to Race Driver: GRID before the year is out, in the form of downloadable content.

The package will include both the VE Commodore and the BF Falcon, as well as the Mount Panorama track to race them on. Not bad. No specific release date has been mentioned, other than a vague 'later this year'.

Before that though there will be the 8 Ball pack, which will feature eight new cars to drive really fast in in the game's Race Day mode. The cars will be:
  • McLaren F1 GTR
  • TVR Cerbera Speed 12
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
  • Honda S2000
  • Nissan GT-R (S-G2008)
  • VW Nardo
  • Pontiac Firebird Trans AM
  • Volvo C30
Also included in this package will be two new online events, but details as to what these entail weren't given to us. The Xbox 360 version will also come with four more achievements, totaling a possible 100 extra points.

The pack's pricing will be confirmed sometime closer to the pack's release, which will be at some point in Q3 this year.

Awesome. Is this a console exclusive where PC owners get slapped in the face again? I hope not.

I love how games come with all these great add ons over time, but hate that you have to pay more for it. :/ V8's on next gen... ahh would be so good, with Bathurst and the like.

I'm hoping for multiple team skins for each car for the pack, though...

As far as I remember, we've never had a V8 Supercars standalone game. It was all just re-branded TOCA Touring Cars.

I'm not a big fan of the V8 Supercars, they just seem to chunky for me.
I do hope this pack comes to PC though.

Eyce is right, they were rebranded games. The V8 Supercars had little to do with the actual championship/story mode of the games.

I hope that they eventually release more tracks, I want Eastern Creek!

Yeah this is great news. Loved V8 supercars 1,2,3 on PS2 and never wondered why they didn't continue the franchise onto nextgen ;( I never really did those circuit races anyway, it always felt like the car was going around the track for me icon_razz.gif. Online freestyle drift is the only thing I play.
