No Gears of War 2 on PC

360 News | Cliffy B reveals all.
Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski -- who served as Lead Designer on Gears of War -- has revealed that Gears of War 2 will not be getting the PC port treatment.

In a Q&A with IGN, Bleszinski explained that "Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we're focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We've decided we're not going to do a PC version this time around."

The original Gears of War made its debut on Xbox 360 in 2006, which was followed a year later by a PC version developed by People Can Fly.

Didn't they say that about the first one? I'm sure it will eventually come.

I'm pretty sure that he said that the first one wouldn't have a PC version.

Sure thing CliffyB, sure thing.

If anything it will be because the PC version sold badly. I don't know the numbers but I can't imagine they were very good, especially compared to the 360 version and that's probably reason enough for Epic!

oh come on Cliff - haven't we been through this already - 360 exclusive so it sells well - and then release a PC version with more content so we 360 owners feel like @#$%

Wouldn't the decision come down to Microsoft anyway?

... well that doesnt make any sense. I doubt Microsoft would agree to something like that.. sure they'd want 360 users to have it first and foremost, but they practically run the computer industry so why wouldnt they want it on Windows?

Not that surprising, most console FPS games are very average compared to the FPS games on PC, it'd be unlikely to sell too well with all the competition.

BTW yes technically gears is a 3rd person game but as far as gameplay is concerned there's very little difference to a FPS.

What do you mean most console fps are average compared to pc fps? u dont know what ur talking about, theres so little difference between pc and console games this generation that ur point is moot.

Bahaha.. please tell me that's a joke..

Anyway, why this is such a big deal, I'm not sure. The first Gears came to PC with a few extra singleplayer missions (akin to some kind of mental abuse) and had a non-existent online community. I can't imagine there are many people hanging out for Gears 2 on PC especially if they handle the port in the same way they handled the first (best online system evar? Or not.)
