The basic formula of the game is simple. Blocks with symbols on them fall from the top of the screen and hit the bottom, with the goal being to shift the blocks around in order make a vertical line with three or more blocks of the same symbol. This will cause the column of blocks to rocket up to the top of the screen, before disappearing from the game. Of course, things are not that simple, with various things and stuff conspiring to hinder proceedings.
As you would expect, Meteos Wars will improve on the graphics of the DS original, as well as a few new gameplay features too. At the top of that list are 20 planets to explore and four 'Planet Impact' special attacks - Armageddon, Gambit, Tempest and Sentinel, all of which sound rather painful. There are also three different game modes to choose from - Mission Mode, Vs. Mode (with options to duke it out either locally or over Live, of course) and Attack Mode. Attack mode has three challenges apparently, in the form of the 100-Meteo, challenge and 1 minute attacks.
While the DS game was controlled with the stylus, the 360 version will have to make do with either the analog stick or directional pad. Wars will have a lot to live up to, given that the original was rather excellent. Still, we're excited.
Expect this one to arrive sometime in October.
