The update will include the two new modes - Payload and Arena (and their accompanying maps) - as well as the new weapon updates that have been released for the Heavy, Pyro and Medic classes.
Though the updates were made available for free on the PC, Valve has confirmed that the console DLC model is forcing the company to charge users for additional content for the Xbox 360 release. This has also been cited as the reason for why the console editions of the title have endured almost a year with no additional content, as Valve was keen to wait until there was a substantial amount of content to be included in the update to give gamers more value for money.
A price point is yet to be determined, though Lombardi has explained that the company hopes to sell the DLC at the lowest price possible.
While the future of Team Fortress 2 is looking bright on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 owners are still sadly left in limbo waiting to find out if and when they will be receiving the same treatment.
