Gears of War books coming soon

360 News | What a novel idea.
With the Gears of War 2 hype machine moving into swing as its November release date nears, Epic have added fuel to the fire with the announcement of a trilogy of novels set in the Gears of War universe.

Gears of War: The Battle of Aspho Fields, by author Karen Traviss, will be the first book to hit shelves on the 28th of October. The book sees humanity's last safe haven under threat by the nasty Locust, who are having a right old time killing and generally causing trouble. If that wasn't enough, the return of a figure from Marcus Fenix's past has come back to spill his secret, bringing the events of Aspho Fields back to the forefront of our heroes mind. How dramatic.

Del Ray Books will be publishing all three books in the trilogy. Gears of War 2 is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 7.

wonder if these will be prequels to the first Gears and will it explain why Fenix was in prison in the first place...
Also, will the comics have any tie up with these novels or is every medium (Game, Novels, Comics) a standalone story arc...

it will probably answer 25% of the current questions, create 400% more questions, and have various plot holes between all the mediums, which we'll be told that "its ain't a plot hole, its heading somehwere..", ALL in an effort to create more moneys

Really like "The Fall of Reach" (first Halo novel), but the other 2 failed pretty hard. They'd better [at the very least] get it spell-checked, which is something the later Halo novels seem to have skipped...

I'd like these sort of books to be good, but they turn out to be little more than glorified fan fiction.

I loved all the halo books, although "the flood", the one that recounts the events of the first halo game, in the sections telling what happens to the master chief, it was horrible. Not the authors fault, but.

If these books are as good, or better, im sold.

i'm not that interested in Gears of War. Only remotely because i'll probably never play it unless it comes to a playstation console. It looks like a nice game though.

^ and does that inhibit your ability to comprehend the difference between a novel and picture book? That was kind of the point he was trying to make

Well, it totally makes sense. You don't make fun of the mentally challenged, it's not cool.

Im yet to play Gears of War, but fans of the series look out! Karen Traviss is a brilliant author and if her balls to the wall awesome Republic Commando** series is anything to go by, prepare to be astounded!

** Recommended to the max for any fans of the Clone Wars conflict or just plain Star Wars fans.
