E3 2008: Bungie working on the next Halo

360 News | Well, according to Microsoft they are.
Following Bungie's rather public no-show at this year's E3, as well as the falling through of what was meant to be a major announcement, several sites are reporting that Head of Xbox Business, Don Mattrick, confirmed to MTV during E3 that Bungie are indeed working on a new Halo project, which we assume will be exclusive to the Xbox 360.

When asked whether Mattrick meant that they were working with Ensemble Studios (on the upcoming RTS, Halo Wars or the long-rumoured Peter Jackson project, Matrick responded with "neither". When asked why the title wasn't announced or talked out during the Microsoft press conference, it was assumed that the conference was already jam-packed with exciting announcements and that there was no need for it.

While this news comes from what you'd consider a reliable source, just what form this Halo title, if it indeed is in production, will take is anyone's guess. However, as soon as we find out anything, we'll be sure to let you know.

I thought we finished the fight in Halo 3? Unless this isn't about Master Chief.

It's not. According to Gamespot it is a cross between GRAW and GoW. It is also going to be more bloodier, violent and grittier. Sounds awesome. you also play as a UNSC marine.

If Sam is right this sounds bloody awesome.

yeeee hah - Bring on more Halo -
however after reading the article that Sambo is refering to - I am less enthusiastic - dont we have too many tactical shooters nowadays. Halo made its name as one of the best FPS of all time - it should stick to that - albeit could be grittier, bloodier etc etc - and what is the Halo universe without the chief. Even the books werent that good without the chief!!

Oh yeah, absolutely. Three games over the course of seven years, damn you money hungry bastards up at Redmond, whoring out the Master Chief like this!

No, seriously. Go hang out in the Sony section and stop polluting Article Talk.

Something was going to be posted on the Bungie web site but was declined at the last minute.
