I so want to be excited by this game but there history just won't let me.

The new trailer excited and pleased me. It was fast, it was classic gameplay, it was beautiful...

Then came the slow and clumsy combat sequences with Wolf Sonic, where he stumbles through enemies and has to jerkily pick up keys and throw them onto pads. Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear. You haven't learnt anything at all, have you Sega?

I don't see what's wrong with it, if it was the same game just with the characters replaced with other characters, I think people would think more highly of it or it would just be another game that people ignore.

It doesn't matter who the characters are. You release a game with crappy controls and it's going to be hated.

I know some people who just hate cause as good as all 3D sonic games haven't been any good. So they see a new one and think it's the same. Day time gameplay is faced paced and night time isn't with wolf sonic but it looks better than their previous games.

Look, .me, I can see where you're coming from. I'm a long time Sonic fan. I've played and beaten every 3D Sonic incarnation. Yes, even Sonic 360. But that doesn't mean I'm blind to what Sega have screwed up with each and every one - and that's breaking up the speed. The moment you take away Sonic's speed, you take away the game's uniqueness.

Think of Sonic Adventure, great when you got to play as Sonic, but then you had to play through it slowly as Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, Omega...
Same with Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic/Shadow bits were fine, but Tails/Eggman/Knuckles/Rouge parts suffered from horrible gameplay, controls, camera, etc.
And yeah, with Sonic 360, you'd be speeding through a level as Sonic, when suddenly control would swap over to Tails or some other horribly controlling character and completely break the flow of the game.

I can just see Sega falling into the same trap again. I really really want Sonic Unleashed to be excellent. The Wolf Sonic stuff is just making me think twice.

Ok, seriously what the hell is wrong with Sega? This is what 4, 5 3D sonic games? And they still haven't figured out that people don't want the sonic games to slow down to a crawl and become combat focused? I mean seriously, it's not a difficult concept to get your head around.
