Free new Halo 3 map on 'Bungie Day'

360 News | Plus gamerpics, a theme, and a price drop for the Legendary Map Pack.
The seventh day of the seventh month, for Xbox Live fanatics, has now been renamed 'Bungie Day'. A variety of Bungie-related, or rather, Halo 3 related products will be available during the day for free, or for a lowered price on the Xbox Live marketplace.

First, Bungie will release a single new -- and free -- multiplayer map for Halo 3. Titled 'Cold Storage', it's essentially a remake of the original Halo multiplayer map, 'Chill Out'. Also available will be a free 'Bungie Day' set of gamerpics and a dashboard theme. These last two items will only be available for free on the day, while 'Cold Storage' will be free starting July 7. Additionally, the powers that be have seen fit to lower the price of the Legendary Map Pack to 600 points (originally 800).

For more information on the new map, Bungie will be offering a Q & A session with the creators next week, once released.

Music to my ears. Though, after reading the Bungie Weekly Update: 7/03/08, it stated in the article that due to the price drop, purchases after 7/7 will no longer include the Bungie Pro bonus.

While Halo 3 is by no means my preferred MP game, it's the only MP game I know that supports 4-way splitscreen AND live at the same time.

Until another game can do that, Halo 3 is always going to get some play time from me and my friends.
