Date for Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix beta

360 News | Only a few weeks away.

Fighter fans will be glad to know that Capcom have announced that the beta for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - or SSF2HDR for short - will kick off over Xbox Live on the 25th of June. The news comes from Eurogamer, who believe the beta will run for roughly two months.

If you've never heard of it, (the game obviously, not Street Fighter - that would be ridiculous), Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is a rather substantial rework of Super Street Fighter II, with the most obvious change being the upgraded HD graphics, with artwork by UDON comics. There is also the option to choose from classic and rebalanced gameplay, online fighting, stats tracking, and two brand new words thrown into the title, showing how Capcom's love of suffixes has only grown since we last saw Ryu and co.

As we reported earlier this week, if you want to get your hands on the SSF2HDR beta, you will need to buy Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on the Live Arcade at the cost of 800 MS points.

Last I read that the beta would not go ahead for the ps3 unless it has been changed.

I will only buy C3 if it's worth 800MP by itself. I really have a problem with this sort of thing: Halo 3 beta with Crackdown, GoW2 content with UT4, etc. Even though Crackdown was a great game, it is just an expensive marketing exercise for consumers. BFBC, COD4 and soon Endwar all have a fairer system of closed public beta testing in which you aren't charged or forced to purchase a game that you otherwise might not buy.

I downloaded the full version of wolf of the battlefield C3 and found it ok..ish.Nothing too spectacular and found that the 3D perspective of the main character can be a real bitch to dodge bullets with.I hope to play some multiplayer tonight if Ugh ends up coming over cause the vehicles look like they need 2 people to get the full use out of them, seeing that when you drive around the back gun is stationary and only shoots straight ahead when you are driving with no way to choose the directions your shots fire other than which way the car is pointing, reducing me to drive straight through the hoards(which is actually quite effective).
Also the bosses are pretty cool , changing the perspective to a top down view and is kinda like bosses you'd see from a shmup, spewing out bullets etc.

I'm gonna download the beta tonight also maybe, that is if NG2 doesn't take up all my time.(which i'm guessing it just may)
So if anyone has the beta pm me for a challenge and hopefully I can pick guile in the beta so i can PWN serious asses.

im not worried aout a beta, just wondering if the full version comes to ps3 eventually

When you buy the full game does it allow you to download the beta straight away? I didn't really enjoy the demo of C3, I found it to be quite boring. The only reason I would buy it is to play SFII HD. I hate betas normally, but I would love to see that game in action.

there is an option on the full version that will take you to the marketplace to download the beta, but at the moment the beta is not available so you get an error. It'll work properly come 25th June.

Also it doesn't matter if you buy the game after the beta beginnings. You can still participate.

About C3. I really enjoyed it. Mercs action with improved controls. I only played it single player and it was still lots of fun. I'll have to give it a go with my friends at work. Looks to be awesome arcade action with friends. Definitely recommend it if you've got some buddies to play with (on or offline - I think it has 3 player offline support).

These are the kind of the games I want to come out for XBLA. The kind of the arcade games that I enjoyed playing in the arcade. Sure there are the really retro arcade games like Pacman and Frogger etc, but I'd really like to see more beat em ups etc. If you've seen the list of games I posted in the "What games you'd like to see on XBLA" thread you'd see the taste of the games I'm into. =]

I'm whole heartedly looking forward to 1942 also.

Hopefully the long beta period is about getting the net-code absolutely perfect. We can only hope.

Yeh I cant wait for that either.Good to see a widescreen shmup as well instead of these thin screened ones we've had so far.

Yea I heard this Commandos 3 is pretty average, bit dissapointing but i'm still looking foward to it. The character art looks **** and I know that's not Capcoms! EWWW! Stupid Capcom outsourching the artwork!!

Anyways can't wait to try it tonight man, I downloaded the demo last night but after seeing that character art I was like...."NO!! I'm not staying up to play this ugly mofo!" so I just went to bed.

Atleast still got Bionic Commando: Rearmed, 1942: Joint Strike and Street Fighter HD Remix to look foward to on the arcade.

My main gripe with it really is the average graphics and weird angle on the characters for bullet dodging purposes (except on bosses).
I hope its alot more fun in 2/3 player co-op.

So anyone know if the SFHD beta will include all the characters?
God i hope so.

I'll pass on commando, looks okay but most of my time will be spent on Civilization and Smash Brothers in two weeks.

Last I heard, it is. PS3 was going to ship with 1080p textures, whereas they were worried about fitting that into the XBLA size limit.

360 verison will be oversized. M$ are letting them exceed the normal size constraints.

Did anyone manage to get the beta early? It apparently came out some time yesterday for a short period of time, but when I checked this morning it was giving me an error.

Looks like someone at MS or Capcom slipped up, and it got put up a little bit early. Only a small number of people manage to get it.
