First NBA 2K9 trailer reveals cover athlete

360 News | 'The Big Ticket' gets the nod.
With the NBA Finals in full swing, 2K Games has officially announced that Boston Celtics power forward Kevin Garnett will serve as the official cover athlete for the forthcoming sports title NBA 2K9 which is slated to appear on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360 consoles later this year.

As well as having his mug plastered on the the game's cover, KG is said to be working alongside developer Visual Concepts to offer his input to a series of unspecified new features and upgrades which are said to be implemented into the long-running series.

The first trailer for the game has coincided alongside the announcement in an effort to relay the credentials of the longtime fan-favourite's inclusion as cover athlete, not to mention show off some of the impressive CG work that will appear in game.

Beat L.A., Beat L.A., Beat L.A.! Garnett is cool.

Well, I was pretty happy seeing CP3 on the last effort, and considering the season 'The Big Ticket' is a top choice.

Still I find myself hoping L.A wins. icon_confused.gif

Lakers are down 2-0 icon_sad.gif

I like KG, but I think Kobe Bryant, LeBron James or Allan Iverson would also have been very worthy choices.

Why AI, he's days as a top NBA star are gone.. :/

Kobe isn't widely popular enough, and I just don't like LeBron (he's good to watch, though) Personally, I would have gone with Dwight Howard.

Even though LA now goes home, it's hard to see them winning it from here, even with the massive comeback at the end of today's game.

He's on that new NBA Ballers game so he probably wasn't even considered as an option.
