Sonic Unleashed began as Sonic Adventure 3

360 News | Game will be different to previous Sonic 3D outings.
Our excitement for Sonic Unleashed just keeps growing. Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine (which is set for release on Friday) Sonic Team's Yoshihisa Hashimoto has revealed that Sonic Unleashed originally began development as Sonic Adventure 3.

"As a development team, we originally started off this project planning to create Sonic Adventure 3", Hashimoto told the magazine. "In our minds, this game will have more in common with the older Sonic Adventure series. It has no relation to Sonic the Hedgehog or Sonic and the Secret Rings". Sonic Unleashed is on track for release towards the end of the year.

Good, I liked the Sonic Adventure series. If they got rid of the treaser hunter levels, bring back those cute little Chaos, shooting and running levels then I'm sold.

Live and learn, hanging on the edge of tommorow!

This is great news, I loved the sonic adventure series and hope this turns out just as good as them.

Come with me, just you and me and we'll escape from the city.

^^ Both plussed for references to great songs. <3

I was quite interested to read about this, and it definitely raises my interest in the game, I really enjoyed both of the Sonic Adventure games.

Bring it on, cause I wanna fly high!

Sonic Adventure 2 was one of; if not, my fave all time Sonic title. This game is coming from a great bloodline!

After getting burnt with the 360 and Wii Sonic releases I will probably remain a skeptic until I get my hands on it.

Everyone accuses the Sonic series as going downhill with the jump from 2D to 3D but everyone seems to forget Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. Sonic 360 would have been a great game with a terrible storyline if they just delayed the game and fixed the bugs.

Sonic just has gone downhill since the move to non-Sega hardware which is a shame as you wont find a bigger Sonic fan than me. I am just feeling the story of "Old Yeller" may become relevant here.
