If you've never heard of it, Ikaruga - from the boffins at Treasure - is a wacky vertical 2D shooter, heavily influenced by manga. Its claim to fame is a unique polarity system, where players must switch the polarity of their ship depending on the enemy in order to maximise damage. It's a tricky little thing to get the hang of, but there are massive high scores to be had. We reviewed the GameCube version way back in 2004, and thought that it was pretty good.
As usual, multiplayer over Xbox Live has been incorporated into the game, with both online and offline co-op options available. And, as you can see from the shots in the media panel, there has been some minor upgrades to the game's visuals. If you want it, it will set you back 800 Microsoft points.
Also coming to the Arcade on Wednesday are two new content packs for Poker Smash. The Environment Pack has a few new action mode environments, while the Puzzle Pack has a whole bunch of new, uh, puzzles. These ones will only cost 100 Microsoft points.
