In 2007, it was announced that New Line Cinema has purchased the film rights to Epic Games' exclusive Xbox 360 shooter. Stuart Beattie, who scripted the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, is penning the adaptation and Temple Hill Entertainment are managing production duties. Epic Games Lead Designer Cliff Bleszinski helped Beattie create a pitch for the Gears of War movie, while the idea of using the same visual style as 300 has also been thrown around.
Bleszinski revealed at the San Francisco Game Developers Conference back in February that Gears of War 2 is currently in development, for release sometime during November.
