Call of Duty 4 to get repackaged

360 News | Will come with a small bonus.
MCVUK is reporting that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360 will soon get repackaged as a Game of the Year edition.

The repackaging will promote the game's numerous Game of the Year awards and also come with a token to download the upcoming variety map pack. The variety map pack is set for release shortly and will cost non-Game of the Year edition owners 800 Microsoft points, it includes four maps; Creek, Broadhouse, Killhouse and Chinatown.

There is currently no word on whether the PC or PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be repackaged. We'll let you know as soon as more information becomes available.

Shouldn't we, (people that paid full price for Call of Duty 4 and bought it upon release) who made it the game of the year get something to show their appreciation?
Instead they are going to give those who held off buying the game, free maps, while they make the true fans pay.
Not fair for us IMHO.

Yeah and for only 4 maps, no new game modes or anything, its a total rip. But they know people will buy it cos COD4 is number 1... but really.. 4 maps at 800 points?

best value has got to be the recent graw 2 co op collection pack. 400 points for new achievements, more co op missions, more maps.

Shouldn't you, as true fans, be happy that you got those extra months to play the game, and that the COD advertising guys are aggressively marketing the game further, which will hopefully result in a bigger budget and more exposure for the next installment?

I like this idea, hopefully it will extend to the PC version, because then this would be a great oppurtunity for me to pick this up.

"We can't get these maps because we can make maps on whatever the hell we want ourselves and the fact that we don't have to wait 3 months for a basic patch to come out is absolutely terrible! Infinity Ward is completely, 100% Neglecting the PC Community!"

Custom maps are always rubbish, and never run with most dedicated servers. Also, he wasn't complaining.

I'm sure this new version will cost more, but on the flip side it will hopefully push down the price of the normal version.

800 MS points = ~$15. If this retails for say $100, and pushes the price down to around $60-70, consumers win again.

I'm still entertained that people managed to construe releasing an added-value/cheaper version of a game as a bad thing. "Releasing cheaper games - another win for corporate scum!"

they look like they more belong in oblivion or something like that.

Hmm this could be good for me because I sold my copy of COD4 a while back and I never even had a chance to try out the multiplayer. There would be a whole new game to play if I actually got around to buying it again.
