Following Electronic Arts' acquisition of Canadian developer BioWare Corp, many hypothesized that the remaining games in the Mass Effect trilogy would go multi-platform. However, BioWare Senior Manager Matt Atwood has doused any persisting speculation. "I believe we'll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time," he said. "We're still working out the details on that, but we've had a great relationship with Microsoft and done very well".
However, once the exclusivity period for Mass Effect 2 is up, Atwood seems confident that the game will be headed to the to PC. "I think you'll see a PC version not too far away. We haven't solidified the plans yet but we're headed in the direction where we want [it] to be as close as possible," he added.
The first Mass Effect was released on the Xbox 360 in November last year, and it was only recently announced that the sci-fi RPG was headed to the PC in May. Hence, if this is any indication, the PC version Mass Effect 2 will trail the Xbox 360 game by approximately six months.
While it is sure to be a few years before we can get our hands on the second instalment, Mass Effect fans can now check out BioWare's first DLC for the series, available on Xbox LIVE, titled 'Bringing Down the Sky'.
