2K has released some of the first images of Mafia II, which is currently in development at 2K Czech. The title will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Not a whole lot of information is currently known about Mafia II. The game is set in the 1950's and will be written by Daniel Vavra, who wrote the first title. Aside from that small tidbit of information, 2K has kept rather quiet on the title, so once they reveal more on the game we'll let you know.

Ah man I loved the first game!

I truly thought at the time it was a gem out of everything else out then. Had a great story, was fun to play overall.

Can't wait for this one.

Nice. The original game had a fantastic story. It had fantastic everything actually. This game is way up my most wanted list.

This year is going to incredible for open world gaming. GTA IV, Prototype, Mercenaries 2 to name a few and now there's this!

The first game was absolutely spectacular, being able to shoot from cars, pulled over for speeding/running red lights, an incredible storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat even after the credits have rolled, etc. It was everything GTA III should have been. Now that a second title is coming my excitement has just hit the stratosphere and it's looking ace, with the same amount of action and humour of the original.

Wouldn't get your hopes up about that... things are looking pretty grim for it at the moment, apparently.

But on the upside, Mafia 2 is looking fan-bloody-tastic!

Yeah, look if you're going to post screenshots, remember not everyone has a screen resolution width of 1600 pixels. Use thumbnails (provided when you upload to imageshack etc)..

Those latest images are absolutely phenominal.

This has been postponed for an 09 release right?
