SouthPeak announces X-Blades

360 News | Hack-and-slash.
SouthPeak Games - most notable for, erm, Two Worlds - have announced X-Blades, a 'dynamic third-person hack-and-slash action title' with a slight twist of anime.

Players take control of Ayuni, a 'stunningly seductive yet tenacious heroine' that wears as little armour as possible while taking down enemies with her nifty little gunblade things and magic skills. Anime cut scenes apparently play a big role in the game, which is incredibly exciting. Sort of.

“The unique anime-style backdrop combined with high-octane, multi-discipline combat gameplay really pushes X-Blades into brand new territory,” said an incredibly keen Melanie Mroz, chief executive officer of SouthPeak Games. “The 3rd-person ‘hack-em-up’ genre needs a fresh perspective and X-Blades is poised to deliver it.”

Well, she certainly seems confident. The game is scheduled for a late 2008 release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The first screenshots can be found in the media panel.
