Gears of War 2 info revealed

360 News | Standoff with Brumak confirmed.
In an interview with IGN, John DiMaggio – the voice talent behind Marcus Fenix – has revealed some details on Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War 2.

"We're doing Gears of War 2 right now; we're in the middle of production," DiMaggio said. "I'm reprising my role as Marcus again."

However, Fenix isn't the only character DiMaggio is lending his voice to. Fans may remember Franklin, leader of the Stranded in the original Gears of War. DiMaggio voiced Franklin in the first game, and is doing so again. "I'm doing one of the characters, Franklin – those are the two that I'm reprising," DiMaggio revealed.

Gamers may also remember the Brumak – the massive creature with the artillery piece strapped to its back. Xbox 360 owners could only spy the Brumak in a cutscene in the first game. To the disappointment of many Gears of War fans, the Brumak subsequently appeared in a boss fight in the PC version of the game. Fortunately, DiMaggio has confirmed that players will be able to go toe-to-toe with a Brumak in Gears of War 2:

"It's badass. In fact, I saw some of the stuff yesterday! Which level was it? It was, well listen, there's bigger beasts in this game. Bigger beasts. Remember the scene with the Brumak, when the Brumak comes out and we're like 'Brumak! Roll! Get outta there!' and it's coming after them – and they don't have a fight with him? Well, they fight him now.

"Oh man, dude – there's new weapons, new beasts, there's a couple of new characters, and it's just badass," DiMaggio continued. "Gears of War 2 looks cool as…The storylines are really cool and the relationships of the guys in the game – the sequences that explain things that are going on – they're a lot deeper."

Gears of War 2 is scheduled to be released at the end of the year.

We should of already fought it in the first GOW!!

My opinion is Epic F'ed up not letting 360 players fight it in the first especially since it was a center point of a lot of GOW trailers, seeing it throughout the game was like a build up to nothing.

good job epic with giving us something we should of already had!

I'm sure it was planned all along, sure Epic blamed it on "the build of UE3 back then couldn't handle the Brumak on 360", but if you give gamers everything in the first game, then what is left for the sequel?

This is the only 360 exclusive I am looking forward to this year (unless Alan Wake decides to get off its ass and show up), but I am REALLLLLLLLY looking forward to it.

the Brumak fight in GoW on PC was pretty stale.... They better improve it A LOT.

Man, I can't wait to use the Train Gun. Now the Locusts will really know what being hit by the Cole Train feels like icon_razz.gif

Sounds great. I think the first game was almost perfect in that it setup the whole war and feel of the universe but didn't allow you to really understand what has happening. I think Gears 2 will really lift the standard again and really they don't have to do too much in order to make it a great game.

I looking forward to playing this very much.

Marcus Fenis is voiced by the same guy who voices Bender.

Terry Tate voices the Cole Train.

You'll never look at GOW the same again.
