"We're doing Gears of War 2 right now; we're in the middle of production," DiMaggio said. "I'm reprising my role as Marcus again."
However, Fenix isn't the only character DiMaggio is lending his voice to. Fans may remember Franklin, leader of the Stranded in the original Gears of War. DiMaggio voiced Franklin in the first game, and is doing so again. "I'm doing one of the characters, Franklin – those are the two that I'm reprising," DiMaggio revealed.
Gamers may also remember the Brumak – the massive creature with the artillery piece strapped to its back. Xbox 360 owners could only spy the Brumak in a cutscene in the first game. To the disappointment of many Gears of War fans, the Brumak subsequently appeared in a boss fight in the PC version of the game. Fortunately, DiMaggio has confirmed that players will be able to go toe-to-toe with a Brumak in Gears of War 2:
"It's badass. In fact, I saw some of the stuff yesterday! Which level was it? It was, well listen, there's bigger beasts in this game. Bigger beasts. Remember the scene with the Brumak, when the Brumak comes out and we're like 'Brumak! Roll! Get outta there!' and it's coming after them – and they don't have a fight with him? Well, they fight him now.
"Oh man, dude – there's new weapons, new beasts, there's a couple of new characters, and it's just badass," DiMaggio continued. "Gears of War 2 looks cool as…The storylines are really cool and the relationships of the guys in the game – the sequences that explain things that are going on – they're a lot deeper."
Gears of War 2 is scheduled to be released at the end of the year.
